The Nebraska Cornhuskers are 1-4 ATS as road favorites since 2012

Nebraska takes to the road for the first time in 2014, as it opened the year with a pair of home victories, including a 31-24 win over McNeese State as 35-point home favorites last Saturday.  The Cornhuskers picked up a 42-28 victory over the Bulldogs as 28-point home favorites in the only previous meeting in this series in 2011, which is important to consider when making your Week 3 college football picks.  Offensively, running back Ameer Abdullah is the main player to watch, as he sits just 66 rushing yards shy from the top five in school history in that statistical category.  Nebraska is 3-2 SU and 1-4 ATS as road favorites since 2012.

The Cornhuskers are one of three schools nationally to win at least nine games in each of the past six seasons, which can’t be ignored when looking over the college football lines, as they share that honor with the Alabama Crimson Tide and Oregon Ducks.  Nebraska is 3-3 SU in road openers under head coach Bo Pelini, while it owns a 19-9 overall record away from home during his time in Lincoln.

Fresno State is 0-2 SUATS through its first two games of the season—getting out-gained by a combined 572 yards against the USC Trojans and Utah Utes.  The Bulldogs’ 13-game home winning streak is the second-longest active streak in the FBS, while they’ve also compiled a perfect 13-0 SU record in night games over the previous two campaigns.  It’s still important to point out that the program has dropped its last 17 games versus ranked opponents.  Fresno State is 0-6 SU and 2-4 ATS as underdogs the last two-plus seasons.

Over the last three quarters of the Utah game, Fresno State averaged 5.2 yards per play and picked up 334 yard and all 27 points after a slow start.  During the team’s current home winning streak under head coach Tim DeRuyter, the Bulldogs have captured those affairs by an average of 23 points.

Sports bettors will likely play the total, as the OVER is 3-0-1 in the Bulldogs last four non-conference games.
