The No. 1 ranked Clemson Tigers defeated Georgia Tech 52-14 in Week 1. This week it hosts Texas A&M as 17.5-point favorites according to college football oddsmakers at 5dimes. The over/under is set at 64.5 total points, and the game will kick off at 2:30 PM CST Saturday at ABC.

CLEMSON

Clemson looked good in its Week 1 victory, but it was not a game without blemishes. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw two interceptions with just one touchdown. The Clemson backfield was sensational, though. Travis Etienne rushed for 205 yards on 12 carries with three TDs and a long-rush of 90 yards. Lyn-J Dixon added 64 yards on eight attempts, and Clemson averaged 8.4 yards-per-carry on its 49 rush attempts.

The Tigers’ Tee Higgins was the No. 1 receiver with four receptions for 98 yards and a TD, while Dixon contributed one catch for 22-yards out of the backfield. Clemson averaged 12.3-yards-per-catch with four receivers managing 20-yards or better in the game. The Tigers defense limited Georgia Tech to just 137 passing yards with two interceptions. It effectively limited the rush to 3.5-yards-per-carry, but Jordan Mason had 72 yards on 13 tries with a TD. He was the most effective Yellow Jacket against the Clemson “D.”

TEXAS A&M

The Texas A&M Aggies are ranked No. 12 in AP polls after its 41-7 triumph over Texas State in Week 1. Kellen Mond threw 19 of 27 for 194 yards, three touchdowns and he threw one interception to finish with a passer rating of 92.0. Isaiah Spiller rushed for 106 yards on seven tries and Jashaun Corbin added 103 yards on a team-high 22 attempts. Mond rushed fives times for 25 yards and a TD. Quartney Davis and Jhamon Ausbon were the top receiving targets with six catches each for 85 and 75 yards, respectively. Both scored TDs, and Corbin added four catches for 12 yards and a TD out of the backfield.

Buddy Johnson, Rodney Elam, Tyree Wilson, and Anthony Hines III were huge for the defense. Johnson had seven tackles, five solo, and 1.5 for loss. Elam had five tackles, four solo, one sack, and one for loss, and Wilson and Hines each had four tackles with two solo. Elam and Wilson each recorded a sack and Jayden Peavy added a sack and 1.5 tackles for loss. In all, Texas A&M had three sacks and nine tackles for loss, while rushing Texas State QB Gresch Jensen into 20 of 31 passing with two interceptions on the day. It also forced a fumble from Frankie Griffin, but Texas State did recover it.
