The Georgia Bulldogs have gone 10-1 against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets during the Mark Richt era

Georgia Tech has won four of its last five games to become bowl eligible for the 16th consecutive year, while capturing the ACC Coastal Division.  The Yellow Jackets have lost three straight and 10 of their last 11 in this in-state rivalry.  “It’s a great opportunity,” commented Yellow Jackets coach Paul Johnson.  Senior Tevin Washington is the player to watch offensively, as he’s scored 18 rushing touchdowns on the season, which is the second-most nationally among signal-callers.  Georgia Tech is 3-1 ATS on the road this season, with the OVER going 3-1 in those contests.

The Yellow Jackets will need to put some points on the board in hopes of pulling off an upset, as the winning team in this series has scored 30-plus points in five straight meetings.  Georgia Tech enters with the third-best rushing attack in college football, averaging 324.9 yards per game, but ranks 61st in total defense, allowing 393.1 yards per game.

Georgia still has an opportunity to play in the national title game, as it will represent the East in the SEC Championship Game on Dec. 1 in Atlanta inside the Georgia Dome.  “Right at this moment, all I can think about is Georgia Tech,” stated Bulldogs coach Mark Richt.  The Bulldogs rank fourth nationally in forcing 59 three-and-outs this season, trailing only Florida State, TCU and Wisconsin in that category.  The defense is 18th in the country in surrendering just 18.4 points per game.  Georgia is 20-8 ATS versus ACC opponents since 1992, which can’t be ignored when making your college football picks against the spread in Week 13.

The Bulldogs own a 47-8 record against teams outside of the SEC under Richt, which includes a 3-0 mark during the 2012 campaign.  Since his arrival in Athens, Georgia has compiled a dominating 10-1 record in this series, including a 31-17 victory as 4.5-point road favorites last year.  Junior quarterback Aaron Murray will become the first SEC player to have three consecutive seasons with 3,000-plus yards passing if he managed to throw for 14 more yards on Saturday.

Sports bettors will likely back the Yellow Jackets due to the road team being 12-3-1 ATS in the last 16 meetings in this series, while the Bulldogs are 3-7 ATS at home.
