The UCLA Bruins are trying to win their third consecutive game against the USC Trojans
The UCLA Bruins are trying to win their third consecutive game against the USC Trojans

USC has won four of its last five games, including a 38-30 victory over the California Golden Bears as 14-point home favorites on Nov. 13, while capturing the statistical battle in its last four affairs.  The Trojans need a win in this spot and the Arizona State Sun Devils to lose in order to land in the Pac-12 Conference Championship Game, which is important to consider when making your Week 13 college football betting picks.    The team is led by quarterback Cody Kessler, who has thrown 29 touchdowns and just three interceptions on the year.  USC is 4-5 SUATS as underdogs the last two-plus seasons, with the UNDER going 7-2 in that situation.

The Trojans are 44-30-7 SU all-time in this series, which can’t be ignored when looking over the college football betting odds, but they’ve dropped the last two meetings.  USC has a 9-13 SU record in games in which UCLA is the higher ranked side by the Associated Press at kickoff.  It’s important to point out that the defense is seventh in the country in the red zone, while the squad is 12th in turnover margin.

UCLA has put together a four-game win streak, which includes a 44-30 victory over the Washington Huskies as six-point road favorites on Nov. 8, while out-gaining its last six opponents.  The Bruins will be led by dual-threat signal-caller Brett Hundley, who leads the nation in completing 72.1 percent of his passes, while needing just 260 yards to break the school-record in terms of total offense.  UCLA is 12-5 SU and 9-8 ATS at home the last two-plus seasons, with the OVER going 10-7 in those 17 opportunities.

The Bruins have come away with points in 38-of-39 trips inside the red zone, as they look to improve to 18-9 against Pac-12 opponents during the Jim Mora era.  UCLA is also searching for its first three-game win streak in this crosstown rivalry since 1996-98.    The main player to watch defensively is linebacker Eric Kendricks, who is just 22 stops away from tying the school record of 468 career tackles.

Sports bettors will likely play the total, as the UNDER is 6-3 in the Bruins’ last nine games as favorites of 3.5 to 10 points.
