Northwestern has scored 17 points in suffering back-to-back losses to the Minnesota Golden Gophers and Nebraska Cornhuskers as 6.5-point home underdogs, but that recent downward trend immediately followed a three-game win streak.  The Wildcats have compiled a 16-12 SU record in November the last two-plus seasons, which is important to consider when making your Week 10 college football predictions, especially with three of the four losses being decided by a single score.  Northwestern is 5-10 SU and 8-7 ATS as underdogs since 2012, with the UNDER going 10-5 in that situation.

The Wildcats will rely heavily on true freshman running back Justin Jackson, which can’t be ignored when looking over the college football betting lines, as he enters this Big Ten Conference matchup off a string of three consecutive 100-yard rushing performances.  Jackson’s 90.0 rushing yards per game ranks as the sixth-best mark of its kind in the country by a first-year player.  Offensively, the team has also gotten solid production from quarterback Trevor Siemian, who has averaged 220.5 passing yards in four conference outings.

Iowa had its three-game winning streak snapped in suffering a 38-31 defeat to the Maryland Terrapins as four-point road underdogs on Oct. 18, while going OVER the betting total for a second consecutive contest.  The Hawkeyes own a 48-24-3 SU advantage in this rivalry, with the two teams splitting the last six games played at Kinnick Stadium.  Four of the last six overall meetings at this venue have been decided by seven or fewer points.  Iowa is 5-2 SU and 3-4 ATS as favorites of 3.5 to 10 points the last two-plus seasons.

The Hawkeyes are a single win away from securing bowl eligibility for the 13th time in the last 14 seasons.  Iowa has 10 interceptions on the year, which is the third most in the Big Ten, with eight players contributing to that total.  In four of the team’s five wins, it has recorded an interception on its opponents’ final drive.

Sports bettors will likely back the Hawkeyes due to their 4-1 ATS mark following a week off the last two-plus seasons.
