The San Diego State Aztecs will try to win five games in a row in this series for the first time in school history

Wyoming has lost three-straight games to slip to sixth in the Mountain West Conference standings, which includes a 54-46 defeat against the Colorado State Rams as one-point road underdogs last time out.  The Cowboys will have a tough time stopping their losing streak due to dropping four consecutive games inside Viejas Arena.  “It’s been really frustrating the past few weeks,” commented junior guard Derrious Gilmore.  Wyoming is 5-10 ATS when revenging a home loss versus an opponent the last two-plus years.

The Cowboys are 37-33 all-time against the San Diego State Aztecs, but have tallied a losing 3-7 mark in the last 10 meetings.  Wyoming still possesses one of the best defenses in the country, ranking fourth in allowing just 54.2 points per game, while sitting 42nd in holding opponents to 30.7 percent shooting from beyond the arc.  Three starters currently average in double figures, with junior guard Luke Martinez leading the way in averaging 12.8 points pear game.

San Diego State has fallen on hard times in dropping three consecutive games and will be looking to win five straight games against tonight’s opponent for the first time in school history.  “I think we have to make sure that we remain determined and believing in ourselves,” commented Aztecs head coach Steve Fisher.  The Aztecs haven’t suffered a four-game losing streak since the 2004-05 campaign.  Sophomore guard Jamaal Franklin was out of the lineup in the team’s latest loss on Saturday, as he’s listed as questionable for this affair with a left ankle sprain.  He is averaging 16.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.  San Diego State is 5-10 ATS as a favorite this year.

The Aztecs have captured victories in 60 of their last 63 games against unranked opponents, while posting a 40-3 record against such teams when playing as a AP Top 25 squad.  San Diego State has a great chance to bounce back with a victory due to capturing the last four games in this series by a double-digit margin.  The average margin of victory in those contests was 27.0 points.

Bettors will likely back the Aztecs due to their 10-4 ATS mark as a home favorite of 6.5 or fewer points, while the Cowboys are 1-7 ATS as a road underdog in the same point range.
