The Mississippi State Bulldogs are 20-7 SU versus the Mississippi Rebels during the Rick Stansbury era

Mississippi State has played more games against Mississippi than any other opponent, as the team looks to win its sixth-straight game in this series.  The Rebels are hoping that senior guard Dee Bost will regain his shooting touch Wednesday night, as he was 7-of-37 (18.9 percent) in the previous seven games before Saturday’s 56-52 win over the Alabama Crimson Tide as 1.5-point home underdogs.  It’s important to note that the squad has covered just one of its last four games.  Mississippi State is 6-1 ATS on the road.

The Bulldogs are 20-7 against the Rebels during the Rick Stansbury era, while also being fourth in the Southeastern Conference with 38 road wins since the 1999 season.  Mississippi State will definitely want to get the ball into the hands of junior forward Arnett Moultrie, posting a 9-0 record when he records a double-double this season.  Moultrie and Bost are two of the conference’s top-five scorers.

Mississippi has alternated wins and losses over its last five games and comes off a disappointing 69-68 overtime loss to the Auburn Tigers as one-point road favorites.  The Rebels got off to a bad start shooting against the Tigers, but regrouped a bit in knocking down 41.2 percent of their shots in the final 20 minutes.  “We missed a bunch of thos that we normally make,” commented Rebels guard Nick Williams.  Under current head coach Andy Kennedy, the program has tallied a perfect 14-0 record in SEC home games on Wednesdays.  Mississippi is 23-7 ATS when playing on Wednesday.

The Rebels lead all SEC teams in rebounding and rebounding margin during conference play, as they were glad to have junior forward Murphy Holloway return to the lineup after missing three games earlier.  He scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in Mississippi’s 71-63 win over Arkansas as two-point home favorites two games back.  There’s no question that the squad loves playing inside Tad Smith Coliseum, coming in as one of just three SEC teams with an undefeated home record—joining Florida and Kentucky in that group.

Bettors will likely back the Bulldogs due to their 5-0 ATS mark in the last five meetings, while the Rebels have dropped five of their last six games versus the number.
