Miami owns an 11-game winning streak, as it comes off a dominating 87-61 victory over the North Carolina Tar Heels as 7.5-point home favorites last Saturday, while going OVER the total for the third time in four contests.  The Hurricanes are now expected to contend for a national title sitting atop the ACC standings, while being ranked third in the country this week.  “I’ve never really thought that Miami could be a top 10 program,” stated Hurricanes center Reggie Johnson.  Miami is 11-2 ATS as a favorite this year, which is important to consider when making your college basketball expert picks Wednesday night.

The Hurricanes are 30-40 all-time against the Seminoles, including a 5-27 mark when playing in Tallahassee.  Miami is the first team to beat Duke and North Carolina by 20-plus points in the same season since Maryland during the 1974-75 campaign.  The squad is the only team in the nation of the power conferences still undefeated in league play.  It’s important to note that the Hurricanes are outscoring ACC foes by an average of 13.9 points per game.

Florida State has alternated wins and losses over its last seven games, as it attempts to bounce back from a humiliating 71-46 defeat to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons as three-point road favorites last time out.  “We put our uniforms on right,” commented Seminoles head coach Leonard Hamilton.  “That’s about where it stopped.”  The Seminoles deserve a long look as one of your college basketball picks against the spread, considering they’ve defeated six top-five teams the last three seasons.  Florida State is 2-8 ATS at home this season.

The Seminoles have defeated 27 nationally ranked teams in the first 11 years of the Leonard Hamilton era.  Florida State has a great chance of pulling off an outright upset in this affair if its close in the final minutes, as it leads the conference in shooting 71.5 percent from the charity stripe.  All-American guard Michael Snaer is the player to watch offensively, as he leads the team in scoring, assists and steals.

Sports bettors will likely back the Seminoles due to the home team going 3-1-1 ATS in the last five meetings, while the Hurricanes have been favored by 6.5 to 9 points on the road just three times the last two-plus seasons.
