The UNLV Runnin' Rebels are one of the best home teams in college basketball

Colorado State is coming off an impressive 77-60 win over the San Diego State Aztecs as 1.5-point home underdogs, but will now look to win its first road game since Dec. 28.  The Rams were blown out in their last two contests away from Fort Collins, dropping both games by 52 combined points.  “We know how bad we can be,” commented Rams guard Wes Elkmeier.  “We are still humble because of those two games.”  The team is averaging 72.5 points per game and shooting 48.7 percent from the field.  Colorado State is 16-16 ATS on the road the last two-plus seasons.

The Rams will be looking to notch their first road win over a ranked team since Dec. 29, 1989, coming in leading the Mountain West Conference in field-goal and three-point percentage.  Colorado State tallied a surprising 78-63 win in its last trip to the Thomas & Mack Center on Jan. 19, 2011 as 13-point underdogs.  Head coach Tim Miles is 2-6 in this series during his five years with the program.

UNLV picked up a pair of overtime road wins last week and will look to remain perfect inside of tonight’s venue.  The Runnin’ Rebels are 11-0 inside the Thomas & Mack Center, while picking up wins in all 14 games played in the Las Vegas area.  Three players are averaging double figures in scoring, with Mike Moser leading the way in scoring 14.7 points per game.  He is averaging a double-double this season and is third in the country in grabbing 11.7 boards per game.  UNLV is 8-8 ATS as a favorite this year.

The Runnin’ Rebels are outscoring opponents by an average of 14.8 points per game and shooting 47.2 percent from the field this year.  UNLV was expected to challenge for the conference title, bringing back four starters and four other letterwinners from last year’s squad that finished with an overall record of 24-9.  Wednesday night’s contest will be the 42nd all-time meeting in this series, with the Runnin’ Rebels holding a convincing 32-9 edge.  The program has won eight of its last nine home games versus Colorado State.

Bettors will likely back the Rams due to their 4-1 ATS mark as a road underdog of 13 or more points, while the Runnin’ Rebels are 1-4 ATS following a straight-up win.
