Chiefs Jaguars NFL Preview
Matt Cassel will try to help the Chiefs end a two-game slide when they host the Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars (3-3) are fortune to have won three games already this season considering how poorly they have played in their losses, and they will get another tough test on Sunday when they visit the Kansas City Chiefs (3-2).  The Jaguars were routed 30-3 by Tennessee at home on Monday night and have been beaten by an average of nearly 26 points in their three losses.  The Chiefs (-9 on the current NFL lines) only have one win this year by more than seven points and will try to end a two-game skid in their first home game since Week 3.

Kansas City got off to a 3-0 start thanks to gritty defense and just enough offense from quarterback Matt Cassel and the running back tandem of Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones.  That trio should have provided enough points to win last week, but Houston rallied late at home for a 35-31 victory.  The Chiefs suffered their second straight loss to an AFC South opponent on the road after losing at Indianapolis 19-9 the previous week.

The 35 points surrendered by the KC defense was easily a season high after the team had not given up more than 19 in any of the first four games.  The Chiefs had led the Texans 31-21 with 7:05 left on an 11-yard touchdown run by Jones but lost the game on an 11-yard scoring strike from quarterback Matt Schaub to wide receiver Andre Johnson with just 28 seconds remaining.

Jacksonville’s offense does not figure to challenge Kansas City on that same level, although the Jaguars did put up more than 30 points in wins over Buffalo and Indianapolis before they gave up that same number to the Titans.  They have won two of their last three games as underdogs, including a 36-26 victory at Buffalo in their last road game in Week 4.

The two teams have shared a common opponent this season in the Colts, who lost at Jacksonville 31-28 the week before they beat the Chiefs at home.   However, those were two very different games, and the Jaguars have been a Jekyll-and-Hyde team in their wins and losses this season.  Jacksonville has averaged over 30 points in three wins and just over six in three losses.

The Jaguars are 8-26 against the spread in their last 34 games on grass and 5-13 ATS in their last 18 overall.  The Chiefs are 4-1 ATS in their five games this season with the OVER cashing in two of the last three following UNDERs in their first two.
