Last season the Cincinnati Bengals won their division and looked like they might have a chance to go deep into the playoffs until quarterback Carson Palmer sustained a serious knee injury in the first post-season contest. News out of training camp early last week was that Palmer was ahead of schedule in his rehab. That’s great news. Unfortunately, there’s been a truckload of bad news for the Bengals. On Sunday, the team’s first day off since they started training camp on Monday, offensive lineman Eric Steinbach was arrested for DWI.

The waiting is finally over for discouraged NFL bettors as Sunday’s Hall of Fame Game begins a 65 game pre-season schedule for the prelude of the football season. All eyes will be glued to NBC because in Canton, Ohio, the birthplace of the National Football League gets underway on Sunday.
The Eagles look to preserve a perfect record in Hall of Fame Games, in the 44th renewal of the time-honored pre-season kickoff classic in Canton, Ohio, when they face Oakland on Sunday. The Raiders hopes to complement the Saturday Hall of Fame induction of legendary Raiders coach John Madden with a third win in Canton. An Eagles victory, however, would honor the late defensive end Reggie White, who’ll join the Hall with Madden on Saturday. Maddux Sports won’t be releasing any nfl picks on this game, but we have provided a preview for the readers.
A tight hammy has caused the tightly wound Dallas Cowboy Terrell Owens to miss a second practice, confining him to working out on a stationary bike. No matter what he does, the controversial Owens is likely to draw attention to himself. Jerry Jones thinks its fine that Owens missed practice.
Although Jets’ rookie head coach Eric Mangini claims that the starting QB position is still open for grabs, Chad Pennington looks like he’s back and ready to assume the leadership position. He missed most of last season season due to injury and has not been healthy for the past three seasons. P

The New England Patriots camp has had some buzz to it this week with Tom Brady, who had off-season surgery, missing the first three days of practice and now LB Teddy Bruschi down with what may be a broken wrist. Is it time to panic Patriot fans?
Bill Parcells seems to run in four-year cycles. In his fourth consecutive year coaching the same team, he always ends up in the Super Bowl. (You must know where this is going.) In his fourth year with the Giants (1986), he coached the team to a championship win. Four years later, with that same team, he captured another Lombardi Trophy. In his fourth season with the Patriots, he was coaching in the big game again (this time he lost).
Brett Favre said yesterday that this year’s Packer’s team is the most talented he’s ever seen. That has folks buzzing. But the real story is not Favre’s comment on “talent. It’s his later statements.
Favre said to reporters, “My arm feels great. The rest of my body feels like I’ve been playing for 16 years. I probably walk around and run around like an old man. My ankles and my feet and hips all bother me. I can still play.
The Brown’s offensive center and Pro Bowler LeCharles Bentley, who was a huge free agent signing this summer by Cleveland, suffered a season-ending knee injury in 11-on-11 drills on Thursday on a play where he blocked nose tackle Ted Washington. That leaves a big hole for coach Romeo Crennel to fill. Cleveland– 6 and 10 this year? Maybe, maybe not, but either way that under 6.5 +135 Season Wins line at Pinnacle is looking pretty juicy right now.
