The No. 3 ranked Clemson Tigers are 7-0, but to this juncture, they have faced only one AP ranked opponent (a 42-36 victory over then-No. 3 Louisville in Week 5) and they’ll face their second today when they host the Florida State Seminoles at 7 PM (Central) on ABC.

NCAA football oddsmakers are setting the line 4.5 points in favor of the Tigers with an over/under of 60 points.

Last week Clemson knocked off NC State 24-17 when Deshaun Watson hit Artavis Scott with a 10-yard TD pass in overtime. Watson had a monster game. He threw 39 of 52 for 378 yards and two TDs, throwing one interception. He also rushed for 35 yards on 13 carries with a TD. The Tigers managed just 117 rushing yards on 39 carries, though, averaging just 3.0 yards per attempt. Only two runs were for 10-yard for longer (C.J. Fuller and Christian Watkins).

Mike Williams had a big day catching the football, though. He caught 12 passes for 146 yards and one of the two Clemson passing TDs. Three additional Tigers had at least 50 yards receiving. Williams has rushed for 489 yards on the season on 90 attempts, leading the team in both categories. He also leads the team in TDs with five of the team’s nine rushing TDs. If that was not enough, he has a commanding lead in passing yardage with 578 yards on 39 catches and four TDs.

Williams has nine of the team’s 31 TDs and has been the difference maker.

Watson has been no slouch with almost 2,000 passing yards and 279 rushing yards, but Williams is what has propelled this team to a level of success not widely anticipated prior to this season. Clemson is for real, and knocking off the usual favorite in Florida State would be a nice notch on their belt.

Florida State is 5-2 after consecutive victories over Miami and Wake Forest. It has lost to Louisville and UNC this season, and at 2-2 in the ACC it is looking at something like mission impossible to win the conference. And that comes as the prohibitive preseason favorite.

Deondre Francois has thrown for 1,876 yards on 138 of 221 passing with 10 TDs and three interceptions. He has rushed for 144 yards on 67 carries with three rushing TDs. Dalvin Cook has been a monster at running back, though, with 900 yards on 159 carries (5.7 yards per attempt) and seven TDs.

Cook has also caught for another 356 yards on 21 catches and his 17.0 yards per pass attempt rank No. 2 on the team. Travis Rudolph is the top receiver with 497 yards on 32 catches and the second most team receiving TDs (three). Auden Tate leads the team in end zone hauls with four, but he ranks No. 6 in passing yardage with 118 on the year on just eight catches.

The Seminoles have a good balance of offense and defense but have had some tough breaks this year. Clemson should be able to take care of business at home, but this game will come down to the wire most likely as college football oddsmakers expect it to with the 4.5 point spread.
