It’s been a tough season for the 2-7 Virginia Cavaliers, who have yet to pick up their first win in ACC play after five tries. Facing North Carolina this Saturday isn’t expected to help that cause according to college football oddsmakers at Bovada, who set the line 14-points in favor of the home team Tar Heels.

UNC is 3-5 on the season and 2-3 in ACC play, but the team would be far better if not for its mediocre defense, which allows 26.6 points per game. The team is a good threat via the pass, ranking 19th in the nation with 302 passing yards per game, but it isn’t getting enough from the rush, barely generating 100 yards per game on the ground.

The Tar Heels have a two-game win streak after a 34-10 victory over Boston College and a 27-19 win over NC State. After this week, the team will face Pitt, Old Dominion and Duke to close out its season.

Bryn Renner has been the QB behind the attack. Renner has thrown for 1,765 yards on the season with a 65.8 percent completion ratio, 10 TDs and five INTs. No UNC back averages more than 4.4 yards per carry and the team has scored just eight rush TDs on the year.

Virginia is riding a six-game losing streak and gave up 59 points to Clemson last week. The defense has been horrible, allowing 32 points per game this season, while the Cavaliers just can’t generate that kind of production themselves.

The Cavs average just 21.2 points per game and aren’t particularly dangerous via the rush or the pass. Featured back Kevin Parks has been productive, but unspectacular with 696 yards but just a 4.4 yard per carry average.

Virginia Trends: OVER 5-0 in last 5 overall; OVER 7-0 in last 7 following SU loss of more than 20 points; OVER 4-0 in last 4 after allowing 40 points or more in previous game.

North Carolina Trends: UNDER 5-0 in last 5 conf games; UNDER 4-0 in last 4 on grass; UNDER 4-0 in last 4 overall.

Head to head: UNDER 4-0-1 in last 5 in North Carolina; UNDER 6-1-1 in last 8 meetings; Cavaliers 9-4 ATS in last 13 meetings.
