SMU is 0-4 SUATS through four games this season, which is important to consider when making your Week 6 college football predictions, as it has been outscored by a 202-12 margin over that span.  The Mustangs have split their four all-time meetings in this series, while they’ve captured four of their last five conference openers.  SMU is 0-2 SUATS as underdogs of 31 or more points the last two-plus seasons.

The Mustangs are expected to go with Garrett Krstich under center, which can’t be ignored when looking over the college football odds page, as he started the year as the team’s fourth-string quarterback.  He completed 14 of 30 passes for 142 yards and an interception last time out in a 56-0 setback to the TCU Horned Frogs as 31-point home underdogs.

East Carolina is 3-1 SU and 4-0 ATS this season, as it comes off a pair of upset victories over the Virginia Tech Hokies and North Carolina Tar Heels.  The Pirates have won 20 of their last 22 games when scoring 30 or more points, while they’ve compiled a 13-2 SU record in their last 15 contests at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.  The program has posted a 68-37 all-time mark against current members of the American Athletic Conference.  East Carolina is 17-2 SU and 11-7-1 ATS as favorites the last two-plus seasons, with the OVER going 11-7 in that situation.

The Pirates are much improved on the defensive end this season, as they’ve limited opponents to an average of 366.9 yards this season—far better than their 430.0 mark in 2013.  East Carolina will be led by Shane Carden offensively, as he’s thrown for a combined 865 yards in those most recent wins against Virginia Tech and North Carolina.  Running back Breon Allen is also an important playmaker, as he set career highs with 18 rushes and 211 yards with two touchdowns last week.

Sports bettors will likely back the Mustangs due to their 5-2 ATS mark versus teams with a winning record the last two-plus seasons.
