Boise State QB Kellen Moore leads the nation in wins amongst active quarterbacks heading into the Georgia Dome

Boise State returns to SEC-land for the first time since dropping a 48-13 contest in Athens during the 2005 season, a visit that was plagued by six first-half turnovers.  “Hopefully we can come out of the gate playing error-free football,” coach Chris Peterson stated.  “You can go back to the last time we were down there and you know what happens if we don’t.”  The Broncos will be searching for their first victory against an SEC opponent, entering this weekend with an 0-4 mark in such contests.  Peterson has enjoyed tremendous success against all other comers, posting a 61-5 record over the last five seasons.  Boise State is a dominating 18-8 ATS over the last two years.

The Broncos will once again be led by senior quarterback Kellen Moore, who is the nation’s active leader in passing efficiency and wins.  Boise State will also be playing its first game as a member of the Mountain West Conference, after dominating the WAC the previous 10 seasons, posting a 75-5 record against league foes.  Moore will be protected by an offensive line that has tallied 92 career starts, which happens to be the 12th-most experienced front nationally.

Georgia can’t take comfort in its opponent not having a win against its conference, as the Boise State program is the nation’s best in terms of winning percentage since the 1997 season.  “This is a game most everybody in the country is going to see,” Bulldogs head coach Mark Richt stated.  “It means a lot to our program.”  The Bulldogs are hoping to bounce back from the first-ever losing season during the Richt era.  He has taken care of business when facing non-conference opponents, entering the Georgia with a 41-6 record against teams outside of the SEC.  Georgia is 10-15 ATS the last two campaigns.

The Bulldogs will begin a year against a top five ranked team for the first time since 1965, which is important due to the team’s 0-4 record against such opponents since beating Auburn in 2006.  Georgia’ fans are use to seeing their beloved squad open the season with a victory, winning 13 of the last 14 openers.  Under Richt’s watch, the team has averaged 39.5 points in such contests since the 2001 campaign.  Sophomore quarterback Aaron Murray finished with 3,049 passing yards last year and came away as a 2010 Freshman All-SEC selection.

Bettors will likely back the Broncos due to their 4-0 ATS mark in neutral-site contests, while the Bulldogs are 0-4 ATS as an underdog.
