2010-11 Tennessee Titans Betting Odds & Schedule Analysis

The Tennessee Titans finished last season strong following a disappointing 0-6 start and hope they can pick up where they left off en route to a playoff appearance this year.  The Titans were a completely different team after their bye week in 2009, winning five straight and seven of eight with a more mature Vince Young under center.   Tennessee head coach Jeff Fisher wants that same Young directing his squad in 2010 because All-Pro running back Chris Johnson will have a very difficult time duplicating his magnificent 2,006-yard season of a year ago.  Keeping Johnson healthy will be critical to the team’s success, so Fisher will rely on Young and a host of reserves in the offensive backfield to help lighten the load.  The NFL did not do the Titans any favors either, as they have the second-hardest schedule in the league this season.

Following is a breakdown of this season’s schedule for the Titans:

Week 1             Sunday, September 12, 2010    vs. Oakland Raiders

Analysis: The Titans went 5-3 at home last season and have an excellent opportunity to start off 2-0 with their first two games there.

Week 2             Sunday, September 19, 2010    vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Analysis: Tennessee will not have to worry about Pittsburgh QB Ben Roethlisberger here after he threw for 363 yards in last year’s 13-10 season-opening win.

Week 3             Sunday, September 26, 2010    @ New York Giants

Analysis: The easy part of their schedule is officially over, as the Titans have to play three of their next four away from home along with four of six before their bye week.

Week 4             Sunday, October 3, 2010          vs. Denver Broncos

Analysis: Tennessee surrendered over 300 passing yards to four of five opposing quarterbacks to start last year and will need to shut down Kyle Orton and/or Tim Tebow here.

Week 5             Sunday, October 10, 2010         @ Dallas Cowboys

Analysis: The Titans start a tough stretch of three road games in four weeks with three of their opponents coming off playoff appearances last year.

Week 6             Monday, October 18, 2010        @ Jacksonville Jaguars

Analysis: Johnson rushed for just 83 yards in the first meeting vs. Jacksonville last season (a 37-17 loss) before exploding for 228 in the rematch (a 30-13 victory).

Week 14           Thursday, December 9, 2010    vs. Indianapolis Colts

Analysis: The Titans face the Colts for the first time this season in a game that might not mean much if Indianapolis has already clinched the division.

Week 15           Sunday, December 19, 2010     vs. Houston Texans

Analysis: Houston plays the first of two straight road games at Tennessee following a home game against Baltimore.

Week 16           Sunday, December 26, 2010     @ Kansas City Chiefs
