Coach: Mark Richt (7th year at Georgia)
Team Name: Bulldogs
2006 Overall Record: 9-4
Returning Starters: 11

In 2006, the Georgia Bulldogs (9- 4 overall, 4- 4 SEC) tied for third in the SEC East and then beat Virginia Tech 31- 24 in the Chick-fil-A Bowl. But last season the Bulldogs played uneven ball, losing to both Kentucky and Vanderbilt. That should not happen again this year.

The offense runs off of an I-formation with TB's using their power alternating with a shotgun, throwing the ball downfield. Sophomore QB Matthew Stafford (53% COMP, 1,749 YDs, 7 TDs, 13 INTs) showed talent but also threw with too much confidence, giving up 13 interceptions to 7 touchdowns. With a year of experience and coaching under his belt, he should play with more smarts and discipline. RB Kregg Lumpkin (Rushing: 162 CAR, 798 YDs, 4.9 AVG, 6 TD and Receiving: 17 REC, 116 YDs, 6.8 AVG, 1 TD) can bruise and cruise. At WR Mohamed Massaquoi (30 REC, 366 YDs, 12.2 AVG, 2 TDs) can be a big playmaker if he'll hold onto the ball. The good news concerns the frontline—they looked solid by the time that spring drills were over.

The four front men are primary in a defense that ranked 8th in total yards allowed per game and 5th in passing. Pressure on the QB has been essential and that will be the case again. The front seven are big, powerful guys. The secondary is of concern on this team. Corner Paul Oliver is still one of the best in the league but there's a big drop-off after that.

The Bulldogs have not missed a bowl bid since 1996 and this season should be no different. There are five swing games for this team against Alabama, Tennessee, Florida and Georgia Tech—all on the road—and Auburn at home. This team could be 7- 5 or 12- 0. Look for something in between.
