This season is part of an Oklahoma State rebuilding plan, which centers around sophomore quarterback Bobby Reid. As a freshman, Reid showed his inexperience through inconsistent play. He struggled through injuries and doubts, but the spring found him back in the saddle and improved. This doesn’t mean that Oklahoma State is going to a bowl game this year, but in two years they may be in contention.

On offense, this is a young team composed primarily of sophomores and juniors. D’Juan Woods (56 receptions, 879 yards, 8 TDs) is a talented player and North Carolina transfer Adarius Bowman will give QB Reid more options.

At running back, freshman Mike Hamilton showed a lot of promise in his first year. Upfront, the team is young; the offensive line will need time to mature.

The defensive front four have experience, with senior Victor DeGrate (5 sacks) being that group’s primary component. The linebackers and secondary are fairly new; the majority are sophomores and juniors.

Look for Reid to mature and the defense to hone its skills this season. If OSU shows progress this season, 2007 could be a breakthrough year. Last season they were dead last in the conference in seven key categories, with the club winning four games. An up-tick in scoring, defense and turnover margin will indicate this team is on the right track.
