id="caption-attachment-4095" class="wp-caption-text">Kansas State running back Daniel Thomas leads the Wildcats into their Homecoming contest against the Oklahoma State Cowboys

Oklahoma State is coming off its first loss of the season and may be without star wide receiver Justin Blackmon this week due his arrest early Tuesday on a DUI complaint. “Until we get all of the information, it’s not fair for me to make a statement one way or the other,” head coach Mike Gundy said. “We’re going to do the best we can to get the information because we want to put it behind us as quick as possible.” The Cowboys fell 51-41 at home to the Nebraska Cornhuskers and have a good chance of dropping this game without Blackmon’s 1,112 receiving yards and 14 touchdown catches. A shot at a third consecutive nine-win season remains a realistic goal and a 10-win season is still something the program is shooting for, as it hasn’t been done since Barry Sanders’ 1988 team. The team still totes a solid 8-2-1 ATS mark in October and the college football oddsmakers still respect them as a five-point favorite in this game.

The Cowboys conclude a road-heavy month of October in traveling to Manhattan, Kansas, as three of their last four games have been away from Stillwater. Oklahoma State heads into this contest as one of three teams atop the Big 12 South standings with just once loss. Their success has been a bit surprising, considering twenty different Cowboys have made their first career starts in 2010. Talent is certainly located up-and-down the roster and the squad enters the weekend as the only school in the country with a 1,000-yard rusher and a 1,000-yard receiver. OSU leads the all-time series with Kansas State by a 34-22 count.

Kansas State returns home on Saturday for the first of two straight games to close out the 2010 home schedule. The Wildcats played their last two games on the road, producing a 59-7 blowout victory at Kansas before dropping a 47-42 contest to Baylor last week. The team enters a stretch of three tough games starting with this one and must sure up a defense that surrendered 683 yards of offense to the Bears, causing them to now rank 100th nationally in total defense. “This wasn’t just the defense,” said head coach Bill Snyder. “This was a team loss.” Despite trailing in the all-time series, Kansas State has still won six straight meetings in Manhattan. The squad is 5-0 ATS in its last five games following a SU loss.

The Wildcats have averaged over 50 points a game over the last two weeks and have established themselves as one of the top rushing teams in the Big 12 Conference through seven games, averaging 205.6 yards a contest. All-America candidate running back Daniel Thomas ranks eighth in the nation with his 127.9 rushing yards per game average. Kansas State will also be celebrating its Homecoming on Saturday and will hope to improve upon its 22-21 record versus Big 12 South competition.

Bettors may be interested in jumping back on the Cowboys due to their 18-7-1 ATS mark in their last 26 games as a road favorite. Kansas State benefits from a 5-2 ATS record for the home team in this series.

There’s till plenty of time left in the college football season and Maddux Sports has some of the best college football handicappers in the
