{"id":9630,"date":"2010-10-22T16:44:22","date_gmt":"2010-10-22T21:44:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/?p=9630"},"modified":"2010-10-22T16:44:22","modified_gmt":"2010-10-22T21:44:22","slug":"college-football-preview-georgia-tech-at-clemson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/college-football-preview-georgia-tech-at-clemson-9630\/","title":{"rendered":"College Football Preview: Georgia Tech at Clemson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Clemson Tigers<br \/>\nSaturday, 10\/23\/2010, 3:30 PM EST, TV:\u00a0 ABC<br \/>\nOpening Point Spread:\u00a0 Clemson -5.5<br \/>\nCurrent Betting Line:\u00a0 Clemson -5<br \/>\nOpening Total:\u00a0 51.5<br \/>\nCurrent Total:\u00a0 52<br \/>\nCurrent Moneyline:\u00a0 Clemson -215 \/ Georgia Tech +185<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3919\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3919\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/josh-nesbitt-georgia-tech-60001.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3919\" src=\"https:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/josh-nesbitt-georgia-tech-60001-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"NC State Vs Georgia Tech College Football Betting Preview\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/josh-nesbitt-georgia-tech-60001-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/josh-nesbitt-georgia-tech-60001.jpg 495w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3919\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Georgia Tech is a perfect 3-0 SU under head coach Paul Johnson in this series, but is a five-point underdog this Saturday<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Georgia Tech is riding a three-game win streak and travels to Clemson, South Carolina in a re-match of the 2009 ACC Championship Game at Clemson Memorial Stadium.\u00a0 The last three meetings in the season have been nail-biters, decided by a combined 12 points.\u00a0 The Yellow Jackets were fortunate enough to win both contests last year, a 30-27 win in Atlanta and 39-34 victory in the title game in Tampa.\u00a0 Georgia Tech has won five straight ACC road games and hasn\u2019t lost on the road against an ACC Atlantic Division team since 2007.\u00a0 Head coach Paul Johnson has tallied an impressive 10-4 mark on the road in three seasons at Tech.\u00a0 The team is 9-2\u00a0against the college football betting lines\u00a0in its last 11 October games and the total is 4-7 O\/U in those contests.<\/p>\n<p>The Yellow Jackets\u2019 spread option offense is led by senior quarterback Josh Nesbitt (92.7 ypg), who ranks second in the ACC in rushing and senior back Anthony Allen (85.7 ypg).\u00a0 Nesbitt needs just 282 rushing yards to become just the eighth player in NCAA history with 3,000 career rushing and passing yards.\u00a0 Georgia Tech ranks second nationally in rushing offense and finished in the top five in the category the last two seasons.\u00a0 In a game that is likely to remain close throughout, the team has a fantastic 11-2 record under Johnson in contests decided by five points or less.\u00a0 The program leads the all-time series, 49-24-2, while winning six of the last seven meetings.<\/p>\n<p>Clemson returned to the victory column last Saturday with a 31-7 victory over Maryland, which happened to be the largest margin of victory and most points for the Tigers over a Ralph Friedgen-coached Maryland team.\u00a0 A key to the game was the Tigers ability to hold onto the football, as the team managed to not turn the ball over for the third time this year and currently ranks 17th in the nation in fewest turnovers with eight.\u00a0 This series has been among the most competitive in the conference over the last 12 years.\u00a0 Twelve of the last 15 games have been decided by five points or less.\u00a0 Clemson is 1-3 ATS at home this year and 6-1 ATS as a favorite of 3.5 to 10 points in its last seven opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>The Tigers have started the season 3-3 for the third straight year and ninth time since the 1995 campaign.\u00a0 Clemson hopes its success in the red zone can move its record above .500 this week, as the offense has scored 18 touchdowns in 21 opportunities.\u00a0 By comparison, last year\u2019s team scored 28 touchdowns in 49 red zone possessions.\u00a0 Sophomore running back Andre Ellington has emerged as the offensive star this season in replacing NFL first-round pick C.J.
