I have gone back and forth for a while now, but I have settled on Oklahoma. Quickly, here are seven reasons why (as always, the disclaimer – this is my opinion and doesn’t necessarily reflect the opinion of Maddux Sports):

1. Sam Bradford is really, really good. He stepped up against the best opponents, and I expect him to step up again here. This is nothing against Tim Tebow, but big games often come down to the QB, and if I had to choose one of these two it would be Bradford every time. He’s at the helm of a truly historic offense.

2. Coaching. Both teams are obviously exceptionally well coached. I give Oklahoma and edge for two reasons, though. Bob Stoops has been around longer and been in more battles. Also, Florida’s offensive coaching staff is in flux, and I am not sure how confident that makes me feel when offense is going to be so crucial here.

3. SEC speed is overrated. We heard time and again how Utah was going to struggle with Alabama’s speed. They survived. Florida is fast, but Oklahoma has seen speed before.

4. Oklahoma is more tested. Surviving the Big 12 impresses me a lot more than surviving the SEC and The Citadel.

5. Oklahoma defense is underrated. Sure, they aren’t nearly as good as Florida, but they aren’t Kansas State, either. Tim Tebow and company aren’t going to have an easy night.

6. No pressure. Florida’s defensive line is far outclassed by Oklahoma’s offensive line. Bradford will have the time he needs.

7. I’d rather take points than give them.

It’s kickoff time, and I am about to watch what I hope will be a classic.
