desperate need of a rebound performance after being embarrassed in last Saturday’s 34-12 defeat to UCLA in Austin. “This isn’t my first fan panic,” head coach Mack Brown said. “The only thing we can do to get fans to calm down is win.” The Longhorns will get their chance at redemption in the 105th renewal of the Red River Rivalry at the Cotton Bowl. Both teams enter the game ranked among the AP Top 25 for the 34th time since the poll began in 1936 with Oklahoma holding a 16-14-3 edge in those contests. The team’s 81 regular season conference wins since 1998 are the most of any Big 12 team, while Oklahoma ranks second with 75. The Longhorns are 15-15 ATS in their last 30 games the total is 14-17 O/U in those games.

With this line hovering back and forth between 3 and 3.5 it would be wise to view our NCAA football odds page to compare lines from multiple sportsbooks so no matter what side you like you know you are getting the best number possible.

The Longhorns defense has been incredible through the first four games, holding opponents to a league-low 221.8 yards per game. Offensively, it’s been a different story, as the team has failed to crack 400 yards of total offense in any of their four games, amassing nine turnovers while averaging 89 yards rushing. The team has good reason to be confident in this matchup, posting a 26-7 mark in its last 33 games versus Top 25 opponents, including a 20-4 record in the last 24 such games. Their last four losses in this situation have all come to Top 10 ranked teams. Texas is 10-7 ATS against conference opponents over the past three years and 1-3 ATS on a neutral field.

Oklahoma enters this heated rivalry with a perfect 4-0 record after holding on to a 31-29 victory at Cincinnati last week. Three of the Sooners four wins this season have been decided by seven points or less. “Though I’m not at all pleased in the manner in which we did win, I still recognize as a team there’s a big difference between winning by two and losing by one or two,” coach Bob Stoops said. “I again am positive, I feel good about the team that we are making the plays necessary to be on the other side of that.” Last week’s game was Stoops’ 150th in Norman, posting a 121-29 mark over that span. The squad has a 10-6 ATS mark in its last 16 conference games and the total is 11-6 O/U in those contests.

The Sooners are led by quarterback Landry Jones, who now has five 300-yard passing games in 13 starts. The most recent game came at Cincinnati when he threw for 370 yards. He had a season-high 380 passing yards against Florida State. Jones ranks fifth nationally with 1,221 passing yards while completing 64.5 percent of his throws with nine touchdowns and three interceptions. On the other side of the ball, the defense has been far from dominating, giving up a conference-worst 421.3 yards per game. Oklahoma has forced a turnover in 133 of 150 games under the direction of Stoops and has 11 shutouts under his watch. The squad is 1-4 ATS on neutral fields over the last three years and 15-21 ATS in the last 36 opportunities.

Bettors will be interested in knowing that the Longhorns are 7-0 ATS in their last seven games following a double-digit loss at home, while the Sooners are 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 conference games.

We have released an opinon on this game and you can get it as well as 6 other point spread winners on our college football expert picks page of the site. One
