{"id":7238,"date":"2010-10-20T16:20:18","date_gmt":"2010-10-20T21:20:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/?p=7238"},"modified":"2010-10-20T16:24:30","modified_gmt":"2010-10-20T21:24:30","slug":"nba-player-props-mvp-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/nba-player-props-mvp-award-7238\/","title":{"rendered":"NBA MVP Award Betting: Handicapping the Long Shots"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><figure id=\"attachment_9490\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9490\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-9490\" title=\"amare-stoudemire-knicks-2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/amare-stoudemire-knicks-2-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/amare-stoudemire-knicks-2-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/amare-stoudemire-knicks-2.jpg 495w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9490\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Amare Stoudemire&#39;s MVP odds are currently at 35 to 1<\/figcaption><\/figure>Here&#8217;s a look at each of the options in the NBA Player Props, MVP award.\u00a0 This article will cover the long shots.\u00a0 Odds are taken from Bodog.<\/p>\n<p>Amare Stoudemire &#8211; Odds: 35\/1 &#8211; I don\u2019t particularly think Amare has any chance to win this award.\u00a0 I believe that we\u2019ll quickly see the difference between playing with Steve Nash and playing with Raymond Felton.\u00a0 For those of you who are skeptical of how much better a point guard can make a big man, look no further than the descent of Tyson Chandler, who actually looked decent when playing with Chris Paul.\u00a0 I expect Amare\u2019s numbers to drop across the board, and I also expect him to become frusterated with playing on a poor losing team.\u00a0 This is one bet I would not make.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Chris Bosh &#8211; Odds: 40\/1 -There\u2019s absolutely no way that someone who is now a third fiddle wins this award.\u00a0 His odds would have likely actually been better had he remained in Toronto.\u00a0 It also shows itself in fantasy drafts, where Bosh, a former late first round pick, is now going late second \u2013 early third.\u00a0 Everyone expects his numbers to dramatically drop off, and even if his field goal percentage does rise from getting better shots, the overall hit his stats take will be dramatic.\u00a0 I would be absolutely stunned of Bosh even gets any votes for MVP.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Deron Williams &#8211; Odds:\u00a0 40\/1 &#8211; Despite being only a stride behind Chris Paul, Deron Williams will most likely be overlooked for this award, even if he does put up another 20\/10 season.\u00a0 Something about his style doesn\u2019t scream exciting, and often the media goes for a player that is exciting (Steve Nash was certainly questionable in both seasons, but they liked the up tempo style of Phoenix).\u00a0 It would take a contending season by Utah for Deron to have any chance at this award, and I don\u2019t feel their team has what it takes to contend right now.\u00a0 By losing Boozer and picking up Al Jefferson, they likely took a small step backwards, and losing Wes Matthews to free agency won\u2019t help either.\u00a0 Save your money and don\u2019t bet on Williams.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Steve Nash &#8211; Odds:\u00a0 40\/1 &#8211; Losing Amare means he is going to have to work twice as hard to maintain his gaudy assists numbers, and that isn\u2019t really even relevant.\u00a0 Nash already won the award in back to back seasons, so unless the Suns have the league\u2019s best regular season record or something, he won\u2019t even be considered.\u00a0 The media likes to spread the wealth, and Nash\u2019s time in the sun has already came and went.<\/p>\n<p>Pau Gasol &#8211; Odds: 50\/1 &#8211; I\u2019m not sure why a designated second fiddle would be placed on the odds sheet here.\u00a0 It seems like Gasol should be part of the 12\/1 \u201cfield\u201d odds, given the fact that he is going to be overlooked in the Lakers\u2019 success because it is Kobe\u2019s team.\u00a0 This bet would be an utter waste and throw away of money.<\/p>\n<p>Conclusion is that none of these five players offer much value on the current lines.\u00a0 Luckily we are going to do 2 more articles looking at the favorites and mid range value picks.\u00a0 Also the NBA season starts up on the 25th.\u00a0 We are once again going to be providing free NBA picks as well as premium picks for our clients.\u00a0 Dont miss out and signup for our free winners today.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s a look at each of the options in the NBA Player Props, MVP award.\u00a0 This article will cover the long shots.\u00a0 Odds are taken from Bodog.
