The second week is before us. Make sure to check out our college football betting lines page or reference the table below in order to compare lines from various sportsbooks. Here’s a small sampling of some of the week’s bigger games.

Georgia Tech (-13) vs. Kansas – The ACC vs. the Big 12 in this non-conference battle. The Ramblin’ Wreck steamrolled South Carolina State, 41-10. Joshua Nesbitt turned in a solid performance and the triple option attack racked up over 370 yards on the ground. Kansas wasn’t as fortunate against its I-AA opponent, North Dakota State. The Bison shocked the Jayhawks in Lawrence, 6-3, spoiling Turner Gill’s coaching debut at Kansas. Georgia Tech opened as 7 point favorites but the line has spiked up to 13 points at most books.

South Carolina (-2 ½) vs. Georgia – An early season conference match-up between two teams expected to challenge Florida for the SEC East title. The Gamecocks lived up to expectations in their routing of Southern Miss, 41-13. Steve Spurrier had to be pleased with South Carolina’s offensive balance, rushing for 224 yards and throwing for 225 yards. Georgia annihilated the Ragin’ Cajuns from Louisiana-Lafayette, 55-7. Like Spurrier, Georgia head coach Mark Richt saw great offensive balance. The Bulldogs ran for 184 yards and passed for 193. The winner of this game has a leg-up in conference play.

Iowa (-14) vs. Iowa State – This in-state rivalry game is usually an exciting battle. In the past 12 years Iowa State is 7-5 straight up against the Hawkeyes. The Cyclones took care of Northern Illinois last week, 27-10. The Hawkeyes are looking forward to the return of running back Jewel Hampton. Hampton tore his ACL last summer and missed the entire 2009 season, then had to serve a 1 game suspension last week. His absence didn’t faze the Hawks. They throttled Eastern Illinois 37-7. The Hawkeyes opened as 13 ½ point favorites with a few books moving up to 14 points.

California (-8) vs. Colorado – This is an intriguing match-up between the Pac 10 and Big 12. The Cal Golden Bears had their way with UC Davis last week, dismantling the Aggies 52-3. California out-gained UC Davis, 512 to 81 yards. Colorado registered an important victory over their in-state rival, Colorado State. The Buffs dominated the game, winning 24-3. Playing Cal means Dan Hawkins has an opportunity to get a huge non-conference win. The Golden Bears opened as only 4 point favorites, but the line has gone up to 7 ½ or 8 points, depending upon the sportsbook.

Oklahoma (-8 ½) vs. Florida State – One of Saturday’s biggest games. The Sooners had to hold on against Utah State, ultimately prevailing 31-24. Florida State overwhelmed Samford, 59-6. Two great offenses will likely put up a high number of points. The Sooners opened as 10 point favorites, but now books put Oklahoma at 8 ½ points.

Notre Dame (-4) vs. Michigan – Brian Kelly and Rich Rodriguez each scored big wins last week. The Irish were able to run the ball effectively against Purdue, despite Kelly’s penchant for passing. The Wolverines’ Denard Robinson was the best player in all of college football in week 1. Robinson set a Michigan quarterback record by rushing for 197 yards and 1 touchdown. And he finished 19-22 for 186 yards and 1 touchdown. Wow. The Irish opened as 6 point favorites but the line has moved down to 4 points.

Ohio State (-9 ½) vs. Miami (FL) – Another big game, which goes down in the Horseshoe. Ohio State had no problems disposing of Marshall, 45-7. The Hurricanes downed Florida A&M, 45-0. The loser is probably out of the national title hunt. The Buckeyes opened as 10 point favorites and are currently favored by 9 ½ points.

Alabama (-11 ½) vs. Penn State – The Crimson Tide get an early test when they welcome Penn State into Tuscaloosa. Even with Mark Ingram on the shelf, Alabama had an easy time defeating San Jose State, 48-3. The Tide rolled up 257 yards on the ground. Penn State had a little trouble with Youngstown State. The Nittany Lions were up only 16-7 at the half, though they eventually pulled away, winning 44-14. Alabama opened as 9 ½ point favorites with most books currently putting the game at 11 ½ points.

<table id="ats" border="1" width="95%"
