Dodgers at Phillies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The teams will be hard-pressed to match last night&#8217;s 24 combined runs, with a pair of solid right-handers facing off.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Los Angeles Dodgers at Philadelphia Phillies<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-weight: normal\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-5986\" src=\"https:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/roy-oswalt-phillies-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/roy-oswalt-phillies-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/roy-oswalt-phillies-50x50.jpg 50w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/>Los Angeles may have finally broken out of its offensive slump, scoring a combined 23 runs in the last two games, including 15 in a Tuesday night victory over the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.\u00a0 \u201cWe hope to give the pitching staff a little confidence and let them know their offense is clicking,\u201d outfielder Andre Ethier said.\u00a0 \u201cAt the same time, it gives us a little confidence.\u201d\u00a0 The team averaged just 2.5 runs in its first 23 games after the All-Star break before this two-game outburst.\u00a0 The Dodgers are still just 3-10 at Citizens Bank Park since 2008, which includes five postseason games.\u00a0 The club is a dismal 2-8 as a road underdog of +125 to +150 this season (-520) and the total in those games is 4-6 O\/U.\u00a0 Los Angeles has won five of its last six games against the NL East, but still stand at 11-13 versus the division this year.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-weight: normal\">Dodgers starting pitcher Chad Billingsley is 9-6 with a 3.82 ERA in 21 starts this season, but the club has dropped his last two outings.\u00a0 In those starts, he has allowed just three runs and nine hits over 12.2 innings.\u00a0 The right-hander is 5-2 with a 2.95 ERA in 11 road starts, giving up just three home runs in 61 frames.\u00a0 He enjoyed a dynamite July, posting a 3-1 mark and 2.79 ERA, while not giving up a single long ball over the entire month.\u00a0 Billingsley has posted a 7-5 record and 4.78 ERA in 16 nighttime starts compared to a 2-1 mark and 0.86 ERA in five daytime outings.\u00a0 In four lifetime outings versus the Phillies, he stands at an even 1-1 with a 3.24 ERA.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-weight: normal\">Philadelphia dropped 2.5 games behind the division-leading Braves with last night\u2019s 15-9 loss, with the pitching staff allowing that amount of runs for the first time since August 22, 2007.\u00a0 \u201cWe just couldn\u2019t stop them,\u201d manager Charlie Manuel said.\u00a0 The Phillies are still a solid 7-2 this month (+520) and 39-26 in August over the last three years (+310).\u00a0 Since July 22, the club is 14-4, while outscoring opponents by a 98-69 margin over that span.\u00a0 Philadelphia is a dominating 13-2 in its last 15 games at Citizens Bank Park, with the team producing a 9-4-4 series record overall.\u00a0 Expect a solid performance in bouncing back from a loss tonight, as the Phillies are 10-6 as a home favorite of -125 to -150 this season (+180).<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-weight: normal\">Phillies starting pitcher Roy Oswalt is 6-13 with a 3.50 ERA in 22 starts this season and is still searching for his first win as a member of the two-time defending NL champs.\u00a0 In his first two starts for Philadelphia, he is 0-1 with a 4.38 ERA, allowing opponents to hit for a .222 average.\u00a0 Oswalt revealed after his last start that he is going through a \u201cdead arm\u201d period that crops up every year.\u00a0 \u201cIt usually lasts about 100 innings,\u201d he said.\u00a0 \u201cSometimes it comes and goes.\u201d\u00a0 In 10 career games versus the Dodgers, he has compiled a 6-3 record and 3.47 ERA.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-weight: normal\">Bettors will take note that the Dodgers are 0-4 in Billingsley\u2019s last four starts versus the NL East, while the over is 3-1-3 in his last seven against the division.\u00a0 Philadelphia has a potent 7-1 record in its last eight games versus the West and the over has cashed in four out of five in this situation.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The teams will be hard-pressed to match last night&#8217;s 24 combined runs, with a pair of solid right-handers facing off.
