{"id":5114,"date":"2010-06-30T14:00:09","date_gmt":"2010-06-30T19:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/?p=5114"},"modified":"2010-06-30T17:39:38","modified_gmt":"2010-06-30T22:39:38","slug":"wednesday-mlb-betting-preview-mariners-at-yankees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/wednesday-mlb-betting-preview-mariners-at-yankees-5114\/","title":{"rendered":"Wednesday MLB Betting Preview &#8211; Mariners at Yankees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Mariners send out another ace in trying to pick up a road series victory over the Yankees.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Seattle Mariners at New York Yankees<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Seattle claimed a 7-4 road victory in the series opener over the New York Yankees, as stating pitcher Cliff Lee tallied his third straight complete game.\u00a0 \u201cIt obviously is a very good lineup,\u201d Lee said.\u00a0 \u201cThey are the defending world champions and some additions make them that much better.\u201d\u00a0 The Mariners have won eight of their last 11 games, while looking to pick up a road series victory for the first time since April.\u00a0 The club is looking to finish the month with a winning record, standing at 13-12 in June.<\/p>\n<div>Mariners SP Felix Hernandez is an even 5-5 with a 3.28 ERA in 16 starts this season.\u00a0 The right-hander has compiled a 1-2 record and 3.36 ERA in eight road starts, with the team posting a 1-5 mark in his last six away from Safeco Field.\u00a0 He has gone the distant in his last two outings, surrendering just three earned runs and 10 hits while striking out 17 and walking two.\u00a0 Hernandez has a 2-3 record and 4.59 ERA in five starts against the Bronx Bombers.\u00a0 Tonight will be his first start in the new stadium located in the Bronx, after producing a 1-1 record and 4.97 ERA in two starts at the old Yankee Stadium.<\/div>\n<p>New York comes in with a slim one-game lead over the Boston Red Sox in the AL Eastern division, but the club has still proven victorious in six of nine games.\u00a0 The Yankees are still an imposing 25-11 at home this season, which is the second-best home record in baseball.\u00a0 Since the 2009 All-Star break, the Bronx Bombers are 56-19 in regular season home games.\u00a0 The club is also tied for the top mark in the baseball in scoring 6.20 runs per game at home.\u00a0 The lineup has been receiving a recent boost by star first baseman Mark Teixeira, as the switch-hitter extended his hitting streak to 10 games on Tuesday.\u00a0 New York has still won 19 of its last 26 home games versus Seattle since the 2004 season.<\/p>\n<div>Yankees SP Javier Vazquez is an even 6-6 with a 5.16 ERA in 14 appearances (13 starts) this season.\u00a0 The right-hander managed to strikeout just a single batter in his last start, allowing four earned runs and six hits in five innings in a no-decision effort on the road in Arizona.\u00a0 He is 3-2 with a 4.25 ERA in six outings (five starts) at Yankee Stadium, giving up six home runs in 29.2 innings.\u00a0 Vazquez will be making his sixth career start against the Mariners, going 4-2 with a 4.35 ERA.\u00a0 After hitting some road blocks in the first two months of the season, he has tallied a solid 3-1 record and 3.00 ERA in five June starts.<\/div>\n<p>Bettors may get brave and back the Mariners after picking up a win in the first game of the series.\u00a0 Seattle is 8-2 in Hernandez&#8217;s last 10 starts against the AL East division.\u00a0 This could prove to be a dangerous endeavour with the Yankees checking in with a 43-11 record in their last 54 home games against right-handed starters.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Mariners send out another ace in trying to pick up a road series victory over the Yankees.
