The Houston Texans lost its season opener 28-30 to the New Orleans Saints. The Texans head home for its home opener and are 10-point favorites over its opponent, the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars. The betting total is set at 43 points according to NFL Oddsmakers at 5dimes, and the game will kick off at Noon (CST) Sunday on CBS.<\/p>\n

HOU<\/strong><\/p>\n

Houston lost Week 1 on a 58-yard field goal from opposing kicker Wil Lutz. The Texans fell as time expired, in a heartbreaking conclusion to a well-played football game. Deshaun Watson completed 66 percent of his passes (20 of 30) for 268 yards and three TDs, but he did throw an interception and was sacked six times for 34-yards lost. Watson rushed four times for another 40 yards, and a TD, but he ultimately fell short due to Lutz\u2019 incredible marksmanship from 58-yards out.<\/p>\n

The Texans rushed for 180 yards as a team, with Carlos Hyde picking up 83 on 10 carries and Duke Johnson Jr rushing nine times for 57 yards.<\/p>\n

Houston was good for 7.8 yards-per-rush attempt. DeAndre Hopkins led all receivers with 111 yards on eight catches and two touchdowns, and Will Fuller V was No. 2 in yardage (69) with just two receptions. Kenny Stills had three catches for 37 yards, including one of the three Texas\u2019 receiving TDs. The Texans\u2019 defensive unit was anchored by Justin Reid\u2019s 10 tackles (8 solos) and it came up with just one sack and five tackles-for-loss. The Texans will look to disrupt the pocket more with increasingly frequent blitzes in Week 2.<\/p>\n

JAX<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Jacksonville Jaguars badly lost Week 1, falling 26-40 at home against the Kansas City Chiefs. Sensational sophomore quarterback Pat Mahomes battered the Jags\u2019 defense for 378 passing yards and three TDs, while the Chiefs backfield hurt Jacksonville for another 113 yards. Jaguars\u2019 QB Gardner Minshew looked solid in his debut. He threw 22 of 25 (88 percent) for 275 yards and two TDs, but he did throw a costly pick. He was sacked just once for neg-3 yards.<\/p>\n

Leonard Fournette was effective in picking up 5.1 yards-per-attempt on his 13 carries, but he did not reach the end zone nor did any other Jacksonville backfield option produce much.<\/p>\n

Minshew rushed just once for six yards. DJ Chark had a monster game at wide receiver with four catches for 146 yards and a TD. He caught all four of his targeted looks, including a 69-yard play. Chris Conley caught six more for 97 yards, but the Jaguars defense was so putrid none of this offensive production ultimately mattered. The Chiefs led 17-7 after the first quarter and Jacksonville played from behind the rest of the game.<\/p>\n

Josh Lambo was 2 of 2 on field goals and 2 of 2 on PATs, while Logan Cooke averaged 48 yards per punt on his two attempts. The Jaguars are hoping for a repeat type performance from its offense while getting a much better effort from its defensive unit against Deshaun Watson and company.<\/p>\n
