He also rushed for 75 yards on 10 attempts, but it was Dalvin Cook who stole the show. Cook had 267 yards on 28 attempts, picking up 9.5 yards per carry with two TDs and a long run of 75-yards. Jacques Patrick was also successful with 124 yards on 20 carries. FSU gained 478 rushing yards in the game with six rushing TDs.

Cook also led the team in receiving yards with 62 yards on four catches, basically displaying the talents that have made him one of the best dual-threat running backs in the country. The 5’11” junior rushed for 1,691 yards last season with a 7.4 yard per attempt average and 19 TDs on the season.

Cook’s 2014 was successful too, with 1,008 yards. This will be his most monster season thus far, and FSU still can manage to be there at the end of the season of course depending on how this transpires. At the minimum, the Seminoles are in heavy pursuit of yet another ACC title. North Carolina is not a bad opponent, however, and this week will still prove to be a challenge.

Shop and compare the best online sportsbooks with our sportsbook review page.

UNC

The Tar Heels are 3-1 and have won three-straight since its Week 1 loss to Georgia. Wins over Illinois, James Madison and Pittsburgh hardly were of the most impressive variety, but it gives the Tar Heels some momentum. Last week the Tar Heels won when Mitch Trubisky threw a 2-yard TD pass to Bug Howard with just two seconds left to edge out Pitt 37-36 in the ACC opener.

Larry Fedora was pleased with the victory, commenting, “We had talked about this before the game that we had an opportunity to establish the identity of this football team and I can say there’s a lot of grit in this team for one, a lot of toughness— all the intangibles we need to be successful.”

Among those intangibles was the brilliance of Trubisky and top receiver Ryan Switzer. Switzer caught 16 passes for 208 yards with a TD and a long play of 58-yards. Trubisky was 35 of 46 for 453 yards and five TDs without a single pick. He was sacked four times, but Pitt’s defense was active with eight tackles for loss, too.

Seven Tar Heels had at least one reception, and Austin Proehl finished No. 2 in yardage with 99 yards on seven catches. The Tar Heels got little to nothing on the ground with just 18 yards on 22 attempts. Elijah Hood managed just 25 yards on 11 carries, and the Tar Heels took the the air in the red zone too. That is the identity Trubisky spoke of: a team reliant on a dynamic combo of Switzer and Trubisky. It is not a bad way to win football games.

Get a full season of NFL and college football picks for just $549 with our early bird special.
