Betting odds c\/o Bovada<\/p>\n

Marcus Mariota had a nice start to 2015, but it all came down in the second quarter last week when he left the game with four turnovers and a sprained left MCL. Mariota was unable to practice Wed and Thurs but on Friday he was officially ruled out for the game. Zach Mettenberger will start in his place but the hosting Titans find themselves 6.5 point underdogs to the Atlanta Falcons in NFL action Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The Titans placed C Brian Schwenke on IR and rookie Andy Gallik is expected to start. The line has allowed the fourth most sacks in the NFL (20) and the ground game is good for just 3.99 yards per carry. Over the last three it has been even worse, good for just 3.40 yards per attempt.<\/p>\n

The Titans are playing its fourth straight at home but lost the previous three. It has lost eight straight overall in Nashville and are just 1-10 under HC Whisenhunt at home.<\/p>\n

Atlanta is 5-1 on the season and won both its road games prior to its 31-21 loss at New Orleans on Thurs. It was its first defeat under first-year HC Dan Quinn. Atlanta was down by 17 entering the fourth but Devonta Freeman ran for 25 yard TD and caught a 13 yard TD pass to make it a close game. The Falcons are trailing the undefeated Panthers in the AFC South.<\/p>\n

Freeman has been the Falcons key player in ranking No. 4 in the NFL in offense, averaging over 400 yards per game. He has 10 total TDs on the year and has rushed for 100 yards or more in three of the past four games, and he had 100 on just 13 carries against New Orleans.<\/p>\n

Julio Jones had 34 catches for 440 yards and four TDs in his first three games. But over the past three he has caught just 15 for 198 yards. He has battled hamstring and toe injuries, but the Falcons need his production to rise and his health bill clean. He was a full participant in practice, and the extra rest since Thurs. should work to his advantage.<\/p>\n

The teams last met in 2011 when Rex Ryan threw for 316 yards and a TD as the Falcons won 23-17.<\/p>\n
