The Giants have won 12 of 13 post season games with a 1.06 ERA, which makes it quite likely that San Fran jumps out to a 2-0 lead in the series.

MLB oddsmakers still favor the Cards, setting the line 1.5-points in favor of the home team.

The Giants will send Jake Peavy to the mound, though he has struggled historically against Saint Louis. Peavy has accrued a 9.88 ERA in three starts against the Cardinals, and allowed two runs in four innings while not getting a decision in his three postseason starts.

Peavy acknowledges this, telling ESPN, “I got a lot of work ahead of me…it’s just going to come down to executing that and trying to hit some balls at people.”

Peavy is 7-1 over his 10 starts previous starts with a 1.23 ERA, and he only allowed two hits in 5.2 innings in a 3-2 victory over the Washington Nats on Oct. 3.

Lance Lynn will go to the mound for the Giants, and he’s posted a 2.45 ERA with 33 strikeouts in 33 innings over his last five starts. Despite that, he is 0-2 due to a lack of run support.

If the Giants continue to assault the Cardinals at the plate, that lack of support may not be a problem. He allowed four unearned runs in a 5-0 loss in Game 5 against the Cards last season.

Lynn said “I know that we had a chance to win that series and I didn’t get the job done…it definitely is something that you don’t forget.”

NLCS Championship – Game 2 Time: 8:05 PM ET Spread: STL -1.5 M/L: STL -129; SF +119 Total: 6.5 Betting odds courtesy of Bovada The San Francisco Giants stepped out with a 1-0 lead over the San Francisco Giants after putting the clamps down on some hot Cardinals hitters.
