Chicago has allowed 160 yards per game from opposing rush offenses, and ranks 8th in the NFL at the pass (199.5 yards per game). The problem for the Bears in this game is that the Jets excel at the run with two very solid backs. The Jets have had good success on the ground and the Bears are going to have a lot of trouble closing off holes.

Prop Bets courtesy of Bovada

Geno Smith total Completions 18.5
Over: EVEN
Under: -130

NFL oddsmakers are predicting a line from Geno Smith more like what he did in week 2 against the Green Bay Packers. Is that reasonable? The thing that will most limit Smith is if he simply doesn’t get the opportunities to throw over 18.5. He’s thrown 28 and 32 passes in the first two weeks, but the Jets are going to look to exploit the Bears’ poor run defense. UNDER.

Geno Smith Total Passing Yards 210.5
Over: -115
Under: -115

The Bears have done a good job at controlling the pass with 199.5 yards per game, and it stands to reason Smith goes below this given the Jets’ focus on the rush this week. UNDER.

Geno Smith Total TD Passes 1.5
Over: +190
Under: -230

Just going to leave this one alone.

Geno Smith Rushing Yards 29.5
Over: -125
Under: -105

OVER. Smith should look to attack the Bears because the DL is going to be very focused on Johnson and Ivory. It’s going to open the field up and Smith is good enough to take advantage of it.

Will Geno Smith Score a Rushing TD?
Yes +160
No -200

No. It seems that Smith has one in store, but it doesn’t seem so to the point that the +160 odds seem favorable. This is actually a value bet, odd as it seems.

Chris Johnson Total Rushing Yardage 54.5
Over -130
Under EVEN

OVER. Chris Johnson is going to punish the Bears defense, and while he’s not quite back in prime form that he displayed with the Tennessee Titans, he might be on his way towards getting back there.

Will Chris Johnson Score a TD?
Yes +120
No -150

Going to take the +120 Yes on this one. Johnson is going to have a big game, and the Jets are going to either he or Ivory in the red zone, or even a play option for Smith.

Chris Ivory Total Rushing Yards 55.5
Over: -135
Under +105

OVER. This is the week that heads begin to be called for among the Bears’ defensive coordinators. The Jets have the perfect offense to carve the Bears up tonight.

Will Chris Ivory Score a TD in the game?
Yes +120
No -150

No. The carries are going to go to Johnson as a better short yardage back. Ivory may still break free for a big run that results in a TD, but -150 is a good value for No.

The Chicago Bears rank 8th in opponents passing yardage but are the 2nd worst at controlling the run.
