No. 10 overall UConn started the season with nine consecutive wins before falling to 53-51 to Stanford on Wed night. The Huskies had narrowly escaped defeat in games against Maryland, Indiana and Florida, but it was unable to overcome a bad second half against the Cardinal. A team that thrives on three-point shooting, the Huskies were unable to connect on any in the final 20 minutes.<\/p>\n

College basketball oddsmakers don’t expect that to continue to be the case and find the Huskies six-point favorites over the home team Washington in NCAA action Saturday afternoon. Shabazz Napier is hoping to rebound from a horrid shooting night against Stanford, in which he shot just 4-of-13 from the floor.<\/p>\n

Napier is averaging 15 points per game and forward DeAndre Daniels told ESPN “We’re not going to have it all the time when (Napier’s) going to be the hero of the game and knock down a shot\u2026that’s when we have to do other things, pass, get easy layups, get to the free throw line\u2026”<\/p>\n

Daniels averages 13.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in just 28 minutes a night. Ryan Boatright is the only other double-figure scorer on UConn with 11.5 points per game, and the team utilizes an eight-man rotation.<\/p>\n

Washington is 6-4 on the season and the Huskies have won its past two contests over Idaho State and Tulane. C.J. Wilcox is the leading scorer with 20.9 points per game and the 6’5″ senior guard is hitting 42.7 percent from behind the arc this season on 7.5 attempts per game.<\/p>\n

Wilcox has increased his three-point accuracy to a career high after suffering a down year at 36 percent last season. He’s averaging 20 points per game over the last five games, though he shot just 4-of-14 from the floor in the victory over Tulane last game on Dec 17.<\/p>\n
