id="caption-attachment-29417" class="wp-caption-text">The South Carolina Gamecocks have won 12 consecutive home games

Vanderbilt will look for its first victory over a nationally ranked opponent since 2008, as it comes off a 38-3 victory over Austin Peay as 47-point home favorites last Saturday, while going UNDER the betting total of 54.5. The Commodores are certainly up against it in this matchup, as they haven’t won a game against a ranked opponent since Dec. 31, 2008, which can’t be ignored when making your college football predictions Saturday night. Third-year head coach James Franklin has done a admirable job of turning around the program, as he’s compiled a 16-12 record since 2011. Vanderbilt is 8-6 ATS as underdogs over the last two-plus seasons, with the OVER going 8-6 in that situation.

The Commodores were the only ones in the SEC to have their entire coaching staff return from a season ago, while 16 underclassmen have experienced their initial action in a Vanderbilt uniform. The program won its final three road games against conference opponents in 2012, but it has dropped 18 of 22 meetings against this week’s opponent. Offensively, quarterback Austyn Carta-Samuels ran for two touchdowns and threw for another last time out, while wide receiver Jordan Matthews has 289 receiving yards through two games.

South Carolina is set to face its second-straight Eastern Division opponent, as it looks to bounce back from a 41-30 setback to the Georgia Bulldogs as three-point road underdogs last Saturday. “There’s nothing embarrassing about losing as long as you play smart and play with a lot of effort,” commented Gamecocks head coach Steve Spurrier about the performance. “We didn’t do those two things.” His team is looking to win its 13th consecutive home game, which would tied for the second-longest winning streak in school history. South Carolina is 10-5 ATS at home the last two-plus seasons, which is important to consider when looking over the college football odds page.

The Gamecocks are worth favorites due to Spurrier’s success against the Commodores, as he’s won 19 of 21 games against them, including a 6-2 mark during his time in Columbia. South Carolina will look to feature running back Mike Davis, who ranks fourth in the conference and 14th in the country in averaging 132.0 rushing yards per game.

Sports bettors will likely back the Commodores due to their 21-8 ATS mark in their last 29 games in September.

Don’t miss out on a winning season and let the college football handicappers at Maddux Sports line your pockets with
