The San Diego Chargers are under a new coaching staff in 2013<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Seattle is expected to send most of its starters on the field for its 2013 NFL preseason opener, but a bulk of the action will be given to its younger players.\u00a0 \u201cMore than anything, we do want to see our young guys,\u201d commented Seahawks coach Pete Carroll.\u00a0 The Seahawks won all four of their exhibition games a year ago, which likely played a major role in helping the franchise finish with a 11-5 regular season record.\u00a0 Seattle is 5-0 SUATS in its last five preseason games, while covering the number in five of its last six games on the road in that situation.<\/p>\n

The Seahawks were dealt a major blow in the early going this offseason, with former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin going down with a hip injury.\u00a0 Even without his services, Seattle averaged nearly 33 points a contest in the second half of the season, and finished 30 seconds away from the NFC championship game.\u00a0 Expect to see plenty of Tarvaris Jackson and Brady Quinn under center, as they try to win the No. 2 quarterback job behind Russell Wilson.<\/p>\n

San Diego will hit the field for the first time under new head coach Mike McCoy, who took over the job after the firing of Norv Turner after the 2012 season.\u00a0 The former Denver Broncos offensive coordinator wants to see his team stay true to the system and execute in a proper manner.\u00a0 \u201cReally the key thing is to see guys fly around and play fast,\u201d commented McCoy earlier in the week.\u00a0 San Diego won and covered the number in its first three preseason games a season ago.<\/p>\n

The Chargers will send out quarterback Philip Rivers for a few series, as he tries to acclimate himself to a new offense under the direction of former Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt.\u00a0 San Diego will need to protect him better this season, but the offensive line isn\u2019t one of the team\u2019s strengths at this point.\u00a0 On the defensive end, linebacker Manti Te\u2019o will be watched closely, as he makes his first appearance on a football field since losing last year\u2019s national championship to the Alabama Crimson Tide.<\/p>\n

Sports bettors will likely back the Chargers due to the tumultuous offseason and camp that the Seahawks have been under thus far.<\/p>\n
