The St. Louis Rams continue to be pedestrian on offense<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Washington earned one of the more impressive victories in the NFL\u2019s first week, coming away with a 40-32 victory over the New Orleans Saints as eight-point road underdogs.\u00a0 Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III validated why the franchise mortgaged its future in trading up to select him with the second overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft.\u00a0 \u201cA young guy comes in with that type of energy, it puts a smile on your face,\u201d stated Redskins defensive tackle Barry Cofield.\u00a0 Washington is 8-24-3 ATS versus losing teams.<\/p>\n

The Redskins will be facing the Rams for the third consecutive year, which definitely can be seen as an advantage when rushing quarterback Sam Bradford.\u00a0 \u201cWashington\u2019s pass rush last week was really good,\u201d stated Bradford in an interview this week.\u00a0 The team needs to stay focused, especially since it lost 11 of 14 games after starting 2-0 a season ago.\u00a0 Defensively, the unit held St. Louis running back Steven Jackson to 45 yards on 17 carries a year ago.<\/p>\n

St. Louis nearly pulled off an upset of its own, falling just short in a 27-23 decision to the Detroit Lions, as it was out-gained by 179 yards.\u00a0 \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of areas on tape and film where we\u2019re a play away,\u201d stated first-year head coach Jeff Fisher, who returned to an NFL sideline after taking a year off.\u00a0 The Rams offense still has a long ways to go in terms of becoming a solid unit, considering it finished last week with an NFC-low 14 first downs and 251 total yards.\u00a0 St. Louis is 16-36-3 ATS in September.<\/p>\n

The Rams certainly tried to feature the run against the Lions, something it can\u2019t get away from here, finishing with 78 yards on 27 carries.\u00a0 St. Louis needs to gain critical yards on first down, while extending drives on the ground, which will keep Griffin III off the field.\u00a0 The last four games have alternated with each team winning twice in this series, while the Rams are 9-22-1 all-time versus the Redskins.<\/p>\n

Sports bettors will likely back the Rams due to the underdog being 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings, while the Redskins are 1-4 ATS in the last five games of the series.<\/p>\n
