In a shocking form of events out of the Big 12 Conference powerhouse Norman Oklahoma, sophomore starting quarterback Rhett Bomar has been dismissed from the Oklahoma Sooners football team.\u00c2\u00a0 In a statement from Oklahoma university, Bomar was kicked off for violating NCAA rules.<\/p>\n
The rules violations reportedly are for receiving excess payments for work at a private business (a local car dealership).\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n
Bomar started 11 games for the Sooners last year,\u00c2\u00a0while setting a freshmen record\u00c2\u00a0of 2,018\u00c2\u00a0passing yards.\u00c2\u00a0 Fresh off a 17-14 win over Oregon in the holiday bowl, high expectations had been in store for the Sooners in 2006.\u00c2\u00a0 Sophomore Joey Halzle is expected to take over the starting reins.<\/p>\n
Offensive lineman\u00c2\u00a0JD Quinn has also been dismissed for the same actions.<\/p>\n
