The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets possess one of the better running games in college football<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Virginia heads to Atlanta Saturday for its road opener at Bobby Dodd Stadium, as it enters Week 3 of the 2012 college football season with a perfect 2-0 record.\u00a0 The Cavaliers need to stick with quarterback Michael Rocco, who didn\u2019t play the entire time versus Penn State last week, but ultimately led the team on its 86-yard game-winning drive.\u00a0 \u201cWe have a another quarterback that\u2019s a good quarterback that you have to give opportunities to,\u201d commented Cavaliers head coach Mike London.\u00a0 Virginia is 4-3 ATS as a road underdog the last two-plus seasons.<\/p>\n

The Cavaliers allowed 303 total yards to the Nittany Lions, but the defensive unit was superb after the offense turned the ball over four times inside its own 30-yard line, allowing minus-14 yards of offense.\u00a0 Virginia snapped a five-game losing streak in road openers last season by capturing a 34-31 victory over the Indiana Hoosiers.\u00a0 This program is expected to take a step forward this year due to having its coaching staff remain intact for a third season.<\/p>\n

Georgia Tech rolled up 712 yards of offense and posted its largest margin of victory in the Paul Johnson era in last week\u2019s 59-3 win over Presbyterian as 45.5-point home favorites.\u00a0 \u201cThere were a lot of positives,\u201d commented Johnson after the game.\u00a0 \u201cThat\u2019s a good thing.\u201d\u00a0 The Yellow Jackets are 16-17-1 all-time against the Cavaliers, as they look to gain revenge from last year\u2019s 24-21 loss as 7.5-point road favorites.\u00a0 The program is focused on avoiding its first 0-2 Atlantic Coast Conference start since 2007.\u00a0 Georgia Tech is 6-2 ATS as a home favorite the last two-plus campaigns.<\/p>\n

The Yellow Jackets are led offensively by quarterback Tevin Washington, who is second in the ACC in averaging 80 rushing yards per game, while placing third in the school\u2019s all-time list with 1,701 rushing yards by a signal caller.\u00a0 Georgia Tech defensive coordinator Al Groh is making things happen in his third year in that role, with the defense ranking among the top 25 teams in passing defense and total defense.<\/p>\n

Sports bettors will likely back the Yellow Jackets due to the home team going 11-3 ATS in the last 14 meetings, while the Cavaliers are 0-4-1 ATS in September.<\/p>\n
