Yankees starting pitcher CC Sabathia (9-3, 3.55 ERA) has won consecutive starts, including a 6-2 home win over the Atlanta Braves last time out, tossing a complete game and giving up just two earned runs.\u00a0 The left-hander is 5-1 with a 4.58 ERA in eight road starts, issuing 16 walks and striking out 49 batters in 55 combined frames.\u00a0 In four career games versus the Mets, Sabathia has tallied a 3-1 record and 2.25 ERA.<\/p>\n
The New York Mets four-game win streak came to an end after failing to hold onto an early 3-0 lead, but the club still ranks second in the majors with 23 victories at home.\u00a0 \u201cThe thing that has saved us thus far has been our two-out hitting,\u201d stated Mets Manager Terry Collins.\u00a0 \u201cWe didn\u2019t have it tonight.\u201d\u00a0 The Mets have dropped four straight series to their crosstown rival, while going 4-7 in games played inside this ball park overall.\u00a0 New York is 10-15 versus left-handed starters this year, with the \u201cover\u201d going 20-4 in those contests.<\/p>\n
Mets starting pitcher R.A. Dickey (11-1, 2.00 ERA) has been absolutely brilliant at home this season, posting a 6-0 record and 1.20 ERA in seven starts.\u00a0 The right-hander has led the club to nine straight wins when he takes the mound, which includes back-to-back complete game victories in his last two efforts.\u00a0 In nine career games (three starts) versus the Yankees, Dickey has gone 3-1 wit ha 2.30 ERA, limiting them to a .237 batting average.<\/p>\n
Bettors will likely back the Yankees due to their 8-1 record in Sabathia\u2019s last nine interleague starts, while the Mets are 2-8 in the last 10 meetings of this series.<\/p>\n
