of three against the Seattle Mariners, including a 2-1 setback on Sunday afternoon. The Giants were 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position, which proved to be the difference. “Timely hits, that’s what wins games for you,” stated Giants manager Bruce Bochy. The club has still managed to win 10 of its last 16 games, but did drop its first road series since May 7-9. San Francisco is 5-8 on the road with a money line of -100 to -125, with the “over” going 10-3 in that situation.

Giants starting pitcher Matt Cain (8-2, 2.18 ERA) registered the franchise’s first-ever perfect game last time out, collecting a 10-0 home win over the Houston Astros. The right-hander is 4-1 with a 3.23 ERA in six road outings, issuing 10 walks and striking out 40 batters in 39 frames. In 19 career interleague starts, Cain has produced a 7-9 record and 2.62 ERA, but didn’t record a decision in his only start against the Angels in allowing an unearned run over eight innings.

Los Angeles is a season-best five games over .500, and finished off a three-game set against the Arizona Diamondbacks with a pair of 2-0 home wins. “We still need to get our club going offensively,” stated Angels manager Mike Scioscia. “In the past six games, we’ve scored 11 runs.” First baseman Albert Pujols may be the perfect guy to get things going, collecting eight hits in 14 career at-bats against Cain during his time with the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League. Los Angeles is 2-0 as a home underdog of +100 to +125, with both games going “under” the total.

Angels starting pitcher Jerome Williams (6-4, 4.20 ERA) will look to snap a two-game losing streak, giving up 12 runs (10 earned) and 15 hits over 13.1 innings over that span. The right-hander is 5-1 with a 2.93 ERA in six home outings, issuing just five walks and striking out 31 batters in 43 frames. Williams has faced the Giants just once in his career, dropping a 2-1 road decision on Sept. 9, 2005, allowing two runs (one earned) and seven hits over seven innings.

Bettors will likely back the Angels due to their 45-19 mark in their last 64 interleague games, while the Giants are 12-27 in Cain’s last 39 road starts versus winning teams.

Make sure to check out our Major League Baseball picks all season long and get the most up-to-date betting odds at
