Detroit suffered a 7-5 loss to the Chicago White Sox last night, as the team concludes a nine-game road trip with today\u2019s contest.\u00a0 The Tigers have posted a 25-15 record on the road dating back to Aug. 11, 2011, which is third in the majors in terms of winning percentage (.625) over that span.\u00a0 The club has also managed to win 24 of the last 34 games in this series, with the offense hitting .301 with 198 runs scored.\u00a0 Detroit is 9-9 in day games this year, and the \u201cunder\u201d is 12-5 in that situation.<\/p>\n

Tigers starting pitcher Max Scherzer (2-3, 5.73 ERA) is coming off a 10-6 road win over the Oakland Athletics, giving up two runs and five hits over 6.1 innings of work, but also managed to surrender a home run for the third consecutive game.\u00a0 The right-hander has compiled an even 2-2 mark and 4.30 ERA in four road starts, issuing 11 walks and striking out 27 in 23 frames.\u00a0 In 10 career games versus the White Sox, Scherzer has garnered a 3-4 record and 2.39 ERA, but received a no-decision in a 3-2 home loss against them on May 5 (7 IP, ER).<\/p>\n

Chicago certainly benefited from Detroit\u2019s inability to capitalize with runners in scoring position on Monday night, as the club improved to 10-9 against divisional foes this year.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u201cThat was a good win,\u201d commented White Sox designated hitter Adam Dunn.\u00a0 He managed to launch his 12th home run of the year, moving him past last year\u2019s total that took him 122 games.\u00a0 The club is still just 4-9 over the last 13 games in this rivalry, while dropping five of eight at home.\u00a0 Chicago is 14-12 versus right-handed starters this year.<\/p>\n

White Sox starting pitcher Jake Peavy (4-1, 1.89 ERA) got back on the winning track after the club dropped his previous two outings. collecting an 8-1 road win over the Cleveland Indians, allowing just a single run and seven hits over seven frames.\u00a0 The right-hander is 2-1 with a 1.59 ERA in three home outings, with opponents hitting just .130 against him.\u00a0 In seven career starts versus the Tigers, Peavy has tallied a winning 3-2 record and 3.57 ERA, including a 1-0 mark and 3.14 ERA in two outings this year.<\/p>\n

Bettors will likely back the White Sox due to their 5-0 mark in Peavy\u2019s last five starts as a favorite of -110 to -150, while the Tigers are 1-5 in Scherzer\u2019s last six efforts as a road underdog.<\/p>\n
