The Los Angeles Dodgers are heavy favorites over the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday night<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

San Francisco entered its series against Los Angeles off a 4-5 homestand, as the club has continued to struggle at the plate in clutch situations.\u00a0 The Giants are hitting .206 with runners in scoring position, which is the third-lowest mark in the majors, sitting behind only the Athletics (.189) and Marlins (.198).\u00a0 The pitching staff has continued to do a fantastic job, limiting opponents to three earned runs or fewer in 17 of the past 18 games.\u00a0 San Francisco is 5-2 in its last seven road games against left-handed starters.<\/p>\n

Giants starting pitcher Ryan Vogelsong (0-2, 3.42 ERA) is coming off a 3-2 home loss to the Miami Marlins, giving up two runs (one earned) and eight hits over seven frames.\u00a0 The right-hander has yet to earn a decision in two road starts this year, posting a 4.85 ERA, as opposing hitters are batting .255 against him.\u00a0 In 13 career games (four starts) versus the Dodgers, Vogelsong has registered an even 2-2 mark and 4.68 ERA, including a 1-1 record and 6.52 ERA in four appearances (one start) at Dodger Stadium.<\/p>\n

Los Angeles will certainly be glad to return to Southern California, opening this series with a 10-2 home record, which is far better than its even 8-8 mark on the road.\u00a0 The Dodgers are still being led offensively by the play of outfielder Matt Kemp, who has managed to hit .452 with six home runs and 10 RBIs at home before Monday night\u2019s contest.\u00a0 He has been hampered a bit by tightness in his left hamstring, but still possesses the longest consecutive-game streak in the majors at 392 games.\u00a0 Los Angeles is 7-3 versus divisional foes.<\/p>\n

Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (2-0, 2.63 ERA) has led the club to five wins in his six starts, but didn\u2019t factor into the decision in a 8-5 road loss to the Colorado Rockies last time out.\u00a0 The left-hander is 1-0 with a 2.66 ERA in three home starts, issuing just four walks and 16 strikeouts in 20.1 frames.\u00a0 In 12 career games (11 starts) versus the Giants, Kershaw has registered an impressive 6-1 record and 1.25 ERA, as opposing hitters are batting .197 against him.<\/p>\n

Bettors will likely back the Dodgers due to their 40-19 record in Kershaw\u2019s last 59 home starts, while the Giants are 2-5 in Vogelsong\u2019s last seven efforts as an underdog.<\/p>\n
