split the first two games of this series, dropping a 5-4 decision on Saturday afternoon in a crazy finish. Bizarre events in the bottom of the ninth inning led to the defeat. “I’ve never seen anything like that live,” commented Giants pitcher Ryan Vogelsong. The Giants have managed to win each of their past three series after enduring a sweep in their season-opening series in Arizona. Third baseman Pablo Sandoval continues to be spearhead the offense, coming in on a 14-game-hitting streak, batting .333 with two home runs and 10 RBIs over that span. San Francisco is 3-5 in day games this year.

Giants starting pitcher Tim Lincecum (0-2, 10.54 ERA) has endured three terrible outings to start the season, as the team has been outscored by a 27-14 margin in those contests. The right-hander is 0-1 with a 12.91 ERA in two road starts, surrendering 11 runs and 14 hits over 7.2 frames. In seven career games versus the Mets, Lincecum has registered a 3-1 mark and 2.87 ERA, including a 1-0 record and 1.38 ERA in two outings at Citi Field.

New York managed to blow a three-run lead in the top of the ninth inning, but recovered to win the game in the bottom frame. “At this level you’re going to escape death a few times, and sometimes you’re going to be shot,” stated Mets manager Terry Collins on the victory. Third baseman David Wright hopes to bounce back from not reaching base safely on Saturday, which ultimately ended his 10-game hitting streak. The club is still just 4-9 in its last 13 games in this series. New York is 5-1 as a home underdog of +100 to +125 this season.

Mets starting pitcher Dillon Gee (1-1, 2.92 ERA) is coming off a 6-1 road win over the Atlanta Braves last time out, giving up just a single run and four hits over seven frames. The right-hander was handed a 6-2 home loss by the Washington Nationals in his season debut on April 10, surrendering four runs (three earned) and eight hits over 5.1 innings. Gee is 7-6 with a 3.12 ERA in 19 career games (17 starts) at Citi Field. He’s tossed 2.2 scoreless innings in relief against the Giants in his career.

Bettors will likely back the Giants due to their 6-2 record in Lincecum’s last eight starts versus NL East teams, while the Mets are 7-15 as a home underdog of +110 to +150.

Make sure to check out our Major League Baseball picks all season
