The Tampa Bay Rays are banking on a big effort from starting pitcher David Price on Wednesday night<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Tampa Bay dropped a 7-3 contest to open a road series against the Toronto Blue Jays last night, as two-time Gold Glove Award winner Evan Longoria committed three critical errors at third base.\u00a0 \u201cIt was a bad day,\u201d stated Longoria after the game.\u00a0 It was certainly surprising due to the Rays making only three years in the first 10 games combined.\u00a0 The club definitely has the ability to bounce back, considering it was 12-6 in this series during the 2011 campaign.\u00a0 Tampa Bay is 21-23 as a road underdog of +100 to +125 since the start of the 2010 season.<\/p>\n

Rays starting pitcher David Price (1-1, 4.82 ERA) was handed a 12-2 road loss by the Boston Red Sox last time out, giving up three runs and four hits over just three innings of work.\u00a0 The left-hander has registered a dominating 9-2 record and 2.06 ERA in 12 career starts versus the Blue Jays, including a perfect 3-0 mark and 3.46 ERA in four starts inside tonight\u2019s venue.<\/p>\n

Blue Jays starting pitcher Brandon Morrow (0-0, 2.57 ERA) has opened up the year with a pair of no-decision efforts, while striking out just seven batters in 14 combined innings.\u00a0 The right-hander led the league with 10.19 strikeouts per nine innings pitched a season ago.\u00a0 In 12 career appearances (eight starts) against the Rays, Morrow has tallied a 4-3 record and 2.26 ERA, allowing opponents to hit for just a .146 average.<\/p>\n

Bettors will likely back the Blue Jays due to their 4-1 record in Morrow\u2019s last five starts, while the Rays are 1-6 in Price\u2019s last seven efforts following a team loss in the previous game.<\/p>\n
