New York has alternated wins and losses over its last four games, coming off a 9-3 road defeat to the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday night, as the two teams will play a rubber game this afternoon.\u00a0 Mets third baseman David Wright continues to lead the offense despite playing with a broken pinkie finger, and is hitting .400 with three home runs and nine RBIs in his last nine games in this particular series.\u00a0 New York is 4-2 in day games this year and the \u201cunder\u201d is 4-2 in those contests.<\/p>\n

Mets starting pitcher R.A. Dickey (2-0, 2.08 ERA) will be looking to start the year with three consecutive wins, coming off a 5-2 road win over the Philadelphia Phillies on April 13, giving up one run and nine hits over seven frames.\u00a0 The right-hander has registered a losing 2-4 mark and 3.90 ERA in 11 career outings (eight starts) versus the Braves, including an 0-1 record and 4.98 ERA in six appearances (three starts) at this ball park.<\/p>\n

Atlanta had dropped its first four games against New York this season until last night\u2019s victory, while the \u201cunder\u201d is 3-2 in the first five games of the series.\u00a0 The Braves have won six of their last seven games and the clubhouse was thrilled to jump out to an early lead last night.\u00a0 \u201cWe wanted to score early and take some pressure off ourselves,\u201d stated Braves shortstop Tyler Pastornicky.\u00a0 Outfielder Jason Heyward is off to a fantastic start in the early going, hitting .440 with two round trippers over his last seven games.\u00a0 Atlanta is 16-8 at home with a money line of -100 to -125 the last two-plus seasons.<\/p>\n

Braves starting pitcher Jair Jurrjens (0-1, 7.71 ERA) has been knocked around a bit in his first two starts of the year, but certainly hopes to turn things around against a familiar opponent.\u00a0 The right-hander has tallied a solid 8-5 mark and 3.10 ERA in 14 career games versus the Mets, surrendering just three home runs in 87 frames.\u00a0 He will be making his 29th career start during the day, posting a 7-6 record and 4.69 ERA, which isn\u2019t as good as his nighttime numbers of 43-28 with a 3.11 ERA.<\/p>\n

Bettors will likely back the Braves due to their 18-5 mark in Jurrjens last 23 home starts, while the Mets are 51-55 in day games the last two-plus campaigns.<\/p>\n
