Dwight Howard went 16 of 20 from the floor last night against the Toronto Raptors, as the Magic won by 4 in Toronto to improve to 25-14 on the season. Despite Howard’s strong play, no one really seems to be giving the Magic much of a shot, due to the uncertainty. Howard has continued to solidify his spot as one of the greatest centers ever, but he’s doing it with a startling lack of help. The Magic were making a push to obtain Monta Ellis, but Golden State made it clear that the only way the Magic were going to pry Ellis was to offer Howard. The Magic want to add a second player to keep Howard in town, not trade him for one.<\/p>\n

Ryan Anderson is still far and away the second best player on the Orlando team. He leads the NBA in both threes made and threes attempted and nearly made the All-Star team as a reserve. Moving forward, the Magic realize he is likely the key to any rebuilding efforts they make once Howard is out of the picture.<\/p>\n

Charlotte<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bobcats fans and management alike expected a horrible season, but no one knew it was going to be quite this bad. Now at 4-31, the Bobcats are likely going to fall to win double digit games this year in the shortened 66 games season. They just got lit up by Deron Williams for 57 points, and only further illustrated why their defense is so inefficient as they were unable to find any kind of answer for the hot shooting Nets point guard.<\/p>\n

Much of the Bobcats’ efforts center around developing their two lottery picks Kemba Walker and Bismack Biyomobo. Both have shown strides and could eventually become very good NBA players. Walker is a dynamic scorer, Biyombo a fierce defender. Outside of Walker and Biyombo though, the Bobcats have only one other significant piece, leading scorer Gerald Henderson. The trio could eventually help form a good and cohesive team some day, but the Bobcats are likely at least a couple seasons away from even returning to the Playoffs.
