Here are the weekend’s top college football stories as I see them:<\/p>\n
Iowa (-6) at Iowa State – The Hawkeyes started the season ranked, but they looked truly awful last weekend. Which team is the real Iowa?<\/p>\n
Western Michigan (+1.5) at Indiana – Same story with the Broncos – they were pretty terrible against Michigan, but they should be beter than that.<\/p>\n
Fresno State (+8.5) at Wisconsin – I’m a big Big Ten guy, but I am not sold on Wisconsin. They should be able to win here, but not if they underestimate the Bulldogs even slightly.<\/p>\n
Houston (+14.5) at Oklahoma State – The Cowboys are at dizzying and unfamiliar heights in the polls. How will they handle the pressure?<\/p>\n
Notre Dame (-3) at Michigan – I would obviously pick Michigan to win if they were playing the Patriots, and I’d convince myself of it as well. That being said, I like a lot of what I saw Michigan do last week, and I still don’t believe in a lot of what Notre Dame says they can do, so I will be all over my boys in blue at home in a stadium that will be insane.<\/p>\n
BYU (-17.5) at Tulane – Any letdown after a stunning win over Oklahoma for the Cougars?<\/p>\n
UCLA (+10) at Tennessee – Both coaches need to put together a good season for different reasons.<\/p>\n
Air Force (+3.5) at Minnesota – This could be a fun one to break in what looks to be a beautiful new outdoor stadium. No more ugly dome.<\/p>\n
Idaho State at Oklahoma – We won’t learn much about the Sooners here, but it will be at least a chance to see how Landry Jones looks as a starter.<\/p>\n
Kansas (-12.5) at UTEP – The Jayhawks are incredibly bad on the road in non-conference play. A win wouldn’t prove much here, but at least it would be a win.<\/p>\n
Tulsa (-17.5) at New Mexico – I will be keeping an eye on this one just to see if I can convince myself that the Golden Hurricanes have anything close to a chance against a dazed and confused Sooners team in their upcoming game.<\/p>\n
USC (-6.5) at Ohio State – Do we really know much about either of these teams? We might know more by the end of this one.<\/p>\n
Utah (-13.5) at San Jose State – We know what USC did to the Spartans, so by some rough trigonometry we might get an idea of how Utah actually stacks up with elite teams.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
