Maryland Terrapins sophomore Terrell Stoglin leads the ACC in scoring 21.0 points per game<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Notre Dame is set to face Maryland on Sunday in the BB&T Classic in Washington, DC, as the two will play inside the Verizon Center.\u00a0 The Fighting Irish will be making their third appearance in the event, posting a 3-0 record, which includes an 81-74 win over Maryland on Dec. 3, 2006 as seven-point underdogs.\u00a0 The team has lost three of four games and still trying find a way to cope with the loss of team leader Tim Abromaitis to a season-ending knee injury.\u00a0 \u201cIt\u2019s a terrible situation,\u201d stated Irish co-captain Scott Martin.\u00a0 \u201cHe\u2019s a tough kid and he\u2019ll get through it.\u201d\u00a0 Notre Dame is 0-4 ATS on the year and the \u2018under\u2019 is 3-1 in those contests.<\/p>\n

The Fighting Irish have tallied a 7-3 mark inside the Verizon Center under the direction of head coach Mike Brey, with all three losses coming against the Georgetown Hoyas.\u00a0 Notre Dame has used five different starting lineups in its first eight games of the season, as a trio of sophomores and a freshman have accounted for 57 percent of the scoring.\u00a0 Jerian Grant, Eric Atkins, Alex Dragicevich and Pat Connaughton have tallied 319 of the team\u2019s 558 points.<\/p>\n

Maryland travels to the nation\u2019s capital and come in with a 3-3 record after dropping a 71-62 decision to the Illinois Fighting Illini as 4.5-point home underdogs.\u00a0 The Terrapins have played in each edition of this event and have tallied a 14-11 all-time record.\u00a0 The program was handed a 64-61 loss by the Temple Owls a year ago, while also dropping a 95-86 decision to the Villanova Wildcats the year before.\u00a0 Maryland is 0-4 ATS in its last four tries against Big East Conference opponents.<\/p>\n

The Terrapins are led offensively by sophomore Terrell Stoglin, who is scoring 21.0 points per game.\u00a0 He is currently the only ACC player currently scoring more than 20 points and ranks 28th nationally.\u00a0 Junior forward James Padgett has also been coming on, sitting third on the team in scoring 9.3 points per game, while leading the conference with 4.3 offensive boards a contest.\u00a0 Forward Ashton Pankey has been crashing the boards, averaging 7.0 rebounds per game, which sits 10th in the ACC.<\/p>\n

Bettors will likely back the Fighting Irish due to their 21-18 ATS mark as a favorite, while the Terrapins are 0-8 ATS as an underdog.<\/p>\n
