class="wp-caption-text">Eagles RB LeSean McCoy will look to run over the Cardinals on Sunday.

Neither the Arizona Cardinals nor the Philadelphia Eagles thought they would be under the .500 mark at this point of the season, struggling to stay out of last place in their respective divisions. That is especially the case after both of them decided to invest heavily in franchise quarterbacks this year.

The Eagles (3-5) decided to keep Michael Vick and deal Kevin Kolb to the Cardinals (2-6) in the offseason, and the moves have not worked out well for either team so far. Not that Kolb would have Philadelphia in a better position this year, but we will never know. What we do know is that the former Eagles QB has had trouble staying healthy the past two seasons, which is why Vick got the starting job in the first place. Kolb got injured in last year’s season opener against Green Bay, opening the door for Vick to get his opportunity. And the rest is history.

Unfortunately for the Cardinals, Kolb is not expected to be under center on Sunday when they visit Philadelphia due to a turf toe injury. He missed last week’s 19-13 overtime win against St. Louis as well, with John Skelton leading the offense. Skelton completed 20 of 35 passes for 222 yards against the Rams, including a 13-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald with just under five minutes remaining that tied the game at 13-13. First-round draft pick Patrick Peterson then returned a punt 99 yards for the game-winning score in OT.

Philadelphia (-14, O.U 46.5) was not so lucky last week, blowing a 24-17 lead in the fourth quarter en route to a 30-24 loss to Chicago on Monday Night Football. The Eagles will be playing on a short week and fell to 1-3 at home when the Bears rallied back by scoring 10 unanswered points to end the game after they gave up an early 10-0 lead.

Vick did not play particularly well in the defeat, completing 21 of 38 passes for 213 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. Philly got both of its offensive touchdowns on the ground with running backs LeSean McCoy and Ronnie Brown each scoring once. The team also added a defensive touchdown on a 22-yard fumble recovery by linebacker Brian Rolle.

The Eagles are just 3-8 against the spread in their last 11 games, but they have gone 7-3-1 in the past 11 meetings with Arizona. The last meeting took place in the 2009 NFC Championship Game when the Cardinals pulled out a 32-25 victory. They are just 4-11 ATS in their last 15 road games though and have dropped 11 in a row straight-up away from home.

Don’t miss out on a
