a new beginning on Sunday Night Football when they host the Dallas Cowboys in an NFC East clash. The Eagles (2-4) entered the season as the favorites to win the NFC East but have yet to win a game at home while the Cowboys (3-3) hope to win two straight behind a new star running back following a 34-7 rout of St. Louis last week.

Dallas got a huge boost against the Rams from rookie DeMarco Murray, who rushed for a team-record 253 yards on 25 carries, including a 91-yard touchdown run for the opening score. Quarterback Tony Romo did not need to do much thanks to Murray, throwing for a season-low 166 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. Romo had thrown for over 300 yards with at least one pick in four of the previous five games. The Cowboys have so much confidence in Murray that they released veteran reserve Tashard Choice on Saturday.

The Eagles (-3, O/U 48.5) have had trouble stopping the run this year, surrendering an average of nearly 124 yards per game on the ground. But Philadelphia head coach Andy Reid has done an outstanding job of making adjustments during his team’s bye week over his career. Reid’s teams are 12-0 following bye weeks and will put that record to the test against a tough opponent in Dallas.

Philly has dropped four for of the last five meetings with the Cowboys, going 0-5 against the spread in those games. The road team won both games last year, although Romo did not play in the first one, which resulted in a 30-27 victory for the Eagles. Neither starting QB played in the second one either with Stephen McGee and Kevin Kolb taking snaps for Dallas and Philadelphia, respectively, in the regular-season finale.

Eagles QB Michael Vick and Dallas QB Jon Kitna each threw two interceptions in the first meeting last year, but Philadelphia RB LeSean McCoy rushed for 149 yards on 16 carries and WR DeSean Jackson had four receptions for 210 yards. McCoy had a career-high 28 carries for 126 yards in a 20-13 win at Washington prior to the bye, and he has scored at least one touchdown in each of his team’s first six games. Jackson has topped the 100-yard mark only once in the last five games, totaling more than three catches just twice during that stretch.

The Cowboys have seen the total go UNDER in three of their last four games overall, although the OVER is 7-2 in their last nine road games. The underdog is 10-4 ATS in the last 14 meetings, and the Eagles are 2-6 ATS in their past eight games against NFC opponents.

Don’t miss out on a winning season and let the NFL handicappers at Maddux Sports line
