Here’s a quick glance at some of the movement.

New England (-7) at Buffalo – The Patriots head to Buffalo for an intriguing week 3 matchup. The line opened at New England -9, and while some are sticking with the opening number, others have gone as low as 7. That Patriots secondary is a little banged up and Buffalo looks able to score points in bunches this year. Who knew Ryan Fitzpatrick was this good? I imagine Bills fans are hoping he’s the next Tom Brady.

Detroit (-3) at Minnesota – Sharps have been hitting this line a bit. The Lions opened at -4, but that’s come down to 3 or 3 ½ despite the public backing the Lions. Minnesota needs to figure out how to play two halves. In each of their last two games, the Vikes have simply collapsed in the second half. Detroit has been as good as advertized. This should be an entertaining game.

Philadelphia (-9) vs. Giants – This line, like Dallas/Washington, has been held up because of a significant injury. But all reports are that Michael Vick has been doing well in practice and will play this Sunday against the G-Men. The opening number is 9 and it should be interesting to see how sharps handle Vick’s injury, and the fact that he struggled with New York twice last year. Expect a lot of blitzing.

San Diego (-15) vs. Kansas City – The line opened at 15 and books are on either side of the opening number; it really depends on the book, which is why it’s nice to have Maddux Sports pro football betting lines page. The Chiefs have been awful. Injuries to some key personnel have certainly hurt, but what about the loss of Charlie Weis? That seems to be the biggest missing piece. The Chargers are looking to rebound after losing to the Pats in New England last week.

Jets (-3 ½) at Oakland – The Jets started as 3 ½ point road favorites and the line hasn’t moved much. A few books have moved down to 3, but many are still posting 3 ½. New York is one of the League’s best road teams, so don’t expect much of a home field advantage. Nick Mangold is out for the Jets, while Oakland has some key offensive personnel listed as questionable; there’s a good chance Jacoby Ford will not play, but the rest should be a go.

Green Bay (-4) at Chicago – A rematch of the NFC championship game from last season headlines week 3. Obviously, Chicago needs to do a better job of protecting Jay Cutler. If Cutler has to hurry his throws, look out for Charles Woodson and company. They’re ball hawks. Just ask Cam Newton. For whatever reason, the Packers offense looked surprisingly average at Carolina last week. They’ll be going up against a much better defense in Chicago.

Dallas (-5) at Washington – The Monday night game involves the other two teams from the NFC East. Like the Philly/Giants game, an injury has kept an opening number from being posted earlier in the week. It’s still hard tell whether or not Tony Romo will be playing. His punctured lung has healed, but his ribs have been giving him trouble. His status for the game is still uncertain and might not be cleared up until game time. On the bright side for Cowboys fans, by playing the Monday night game, Romo gets an extra day to recover. Regardless, Dallas should have their hands full with a Redskins team that has been playing with a chip on its shoulder.

If you are betting the games today consider picking up Madduxs NFL football picks. We have a rare 20 unit play going Sunday and it should be another easy winner.

A wild week of betting has moved the opening numbers.
